In all honesty though, as much as I love my PC (why else would I spend over £1200 on a custom PC?) I do still love console gaming and will definately say that while PC gaming is technically superior, it ain't for everyone.

Consoles are cheaper, you can play with your friends in person and require less technical know-how but I like PC gaming as well.

Apparently, my argument that "consoles aren't superior to gaming PCs because consoles ARE gaming PCs and so both of them are pretty much equal" is interpreted by console players as "hurr PC master race durr".

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I wasn't saying that. I was agreeing with you. I was just putting forward a seperate point.

I do agree with you that console and PC gaming is pretty much equal, with each appealing to different demographics (and, like you say, consoles are basically highly specialized gaming PCs which trade in versatility and power for universal software requirements and affordability).

My "Here we go again" was simply due to the fact that I could forsee the thread being derailed by those not quite as clever or mature as you. Sadly there are a lot of "Hurr PC elitist durr" and "Herp console noob derp" people on the internets, including on DakkaDakka.

Derpes is contagious unfortunately.

Anyway, back on topic, this seems almost like a revival of "Home Computers" (like the Zx Spectrum and the Commodore 64) of the 80s and 90s.
