Get ready for commander Flarbsight. An all-finecast miniature whose mix of bubbles, bent sword, and distorted limbs simply show that GW makes the best miniature soldiers in the world!

Or it could mean nothing. The Sisters models were also not available for sometime, and then came back as metal again.

It does bother me that forgeworld is supposedly switching to finecast resin, considering they cost exponentially more than GW.
This better not be true.

Not going to happen. It's the wrong type of casting system.
And even if it did - the Forgeworld staff have slightly better QC than GWs slightly rushed 'batch check' methods.
How much FW do you have experience with? I've had just as much bad FW as I have bad Finecast, and neither has been much.

On the good side, you love the model so you'll be very happy to have a pile of dozens of them as a result of having to keep trying to get replacements until you finally get one that isn't fatally miscast.

Am I the only one that gets miscast-free finecasting? not even tiny bubbles ever happened to me.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

I have run into minor miscast finecast models, and nothing I couldn't repair. The most disappointing was Orikan the Diviner's staff was practically hollow. But one thing to consider is I doubt anyone with years of experience with GW's metal models went problem free with those models. I've had more misaligned, part broken, bad flash, missing pieces or unrepairable dents, scratches and just parts that will not fit together with metal. Far more metal problems under my belt than problems with finecast but then again I've also had 10+ years of experience with Metal Models as opposed to the year or two with Finecast.

The problem with Finecast is inconsistency; I made a cursory check of all the FC at my FLGS, and they're all in good shape, lots of detail, minimal flash, but that's because I know the owner immediately returns and chews out the GW distributor for the region when he gets any miscasts, so there's always an inconsistent amount of the stuff.

FW is generally pretty solid; the occassional gun barrel isn't quite straight and needs some love, but I've heard of few cases of genuine miscasts or damage, and they're extremely accommodating in replacements, often giving you free stuff (one of my mates got a free hornet when some of his weapons were badly damaged during shipping).

My biggest problem, however, lies in the business practice of FC; it's more expensive than metal when they're using the exact same, old, poorly proportioned sculpts. There's no justification for it; why buy the FC Chaos Havocs when they're $10 more, have the same useless 1 of every weapon option, and are an old, mediocre sculpt?

If they want to use resin and produce FW quality minis for special characters, and charge a premium for high-quality models, I can live with that, but I pity Eldar players everywhere when ever aspect warrior is finecast, ancient, expensive and comes with small, useless numbers of models per kit.

The materiel is a secondary part of the problem here, it's the practices associated with it that rubs me the wrong way.

Besides, when we see incredibly detailed plastic models like the DV Chaplain or the new Chaos models (though the designs aren't entirely to my liking), I can't help but ask, "what's the point of finecast?"

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Yeah, GW should swap completely over to plastic. I'd be fine with paying more per model if there were almost zero quality issues and they were of such excellent detail.
