is there any way to efficently take down large amounts of infantry?

Of course there is. But like most things in flames of war its more of a combination of units that achieve said goal. There is plenty of tactics and weaponry that is effective. You need artillery/air support to slow the enemy advance via pinning as well as you need machine guns. Either as gun teams or tank mounted. Recconaissance units help take out gone to ground infantry and also sometimes you need a tank to drive infantry out of their holes after pinning them down etc. Dug-In infantry isnt easy to peel off an objective if you dont have the right tools at hand.

Also to my perspective its not only about "taking the enemy units out" like it is in 40k. Its more important to hinder the enemy to use their arsenal at its full potential which is sometimes achieved without even killing a single team.
