Yes, very awesome and not making the wait any easier. Still, I'm happy I went in for 120 of the stormtroopers (plus lots of other stuff).
As far as them looking too "clean" and/or "high tech," the Elysians and Mordians would like a word.

Still can't wait to see what you can do for an Eisenkern tank (you did mention they have a medium tank).

Awesome work, to say the least!

I saw the KS update and immediately started linking friends to it, whether they're wargamers or not, and every agrees they're cool.

I do think Breotan makes a solid point about overall look, but I think Mark has it right that it's easier to make something look beat up from being new than make something look new from being beat up. None of this makes the wait any shorter though; I'm just glad that I will have a nice fat addition to Mount Plasticrack soon.

Sorry Moustaffa, these have been sitting on my desk for a week while I grind away at CAD files. I needed a break from that so I spent some time this weekend to have a little fun.

suggestion: airbrush for your base color/shading, then transparent paints to get other colors, its such cheating!

Grundz- What do you mean by transparent paints? I'm about to get an airbrush and if there are cheater methods using it I'd love to read about it.

Particularly I've been wondering since you can get a nice shaded basecoat with the airbrush, but then what to do on top of it that won't just cover up your nice shading?

So, if you can point me towards what you're talking about with "transparent paints" I'd appreciate it

Also, I think Mark's models will lend themselves VERY well to airbrushing.

basically yes, you do the base coat really nice in a neutral color like black -> gunmetal -> steel -> mythril, and then use washes or transparent paints to maintain the nice shadowy shading:

I used these: until michaels stopped carrying them, the colors are hit and miss but the transparent green looks fantastic over gold, and the red isn't bad, I know tamija (or whatever) has a series of transparent paints too but haven't tried them, I graduated to washes/inks instead.

http://www.tcpglobal.com/createx/transparent-colors.aspx

see my gallery for grey knights (troops = lots of this effect, then airbrushing the blue for the weapon glow) and vehicles (purposly cloudly coloring, then transparent black to shade the panels)

in reality, you base coat the mini's (takes maybe half an hour to do a squad good) and then coloring is really quick, because its really watery stuff it is really easy to clean up mistakes too!

I'd have just hazarded to say thin coats over a white primer, like water colour techniques. If you don't go too dilute, it would go pretty fast.

Why would they wear all that armor and not a helmet?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Because they are Bad Assâ„¢.

As far as transparent paints, Reaper has six clear colors that might work, too.

Mark, any chance of doing a M.A.S.H. Accessory sprue? You could do a combat medic, a mule with the IV hanger, and bunches of injured body parts. You could also do a semi propped up body or one in a body bag being carried by the mule back to the retrieval site. Also a good chance for battle damaged parts for some. Not sure how many people would want it, but I'd love to convert one of my Ava's int a nurse.

Highest quality kits I've seen I think. Really looking forward to the stormtroopers arriving, even more than the leviathans. This is now the standard that I hold other kits up to.

Mark also has instructions for assembly on the www.dreamforge-games.blogspot.de website. How's how flexible the crusader is. I'm even more excited about that. Now I just need to figure out how to do the Cylon eye electronics for my crusader when it comes in.

Theophony, aren't those instructions for the old resin Crusader, or are there updated ones for the plastic kit on there?

I agree, one of the main things keeping me away from using a majority of 3rd party miniatures is the fact that one of the only stores around me to play is a GW....but these excellent miniatures are making me want to start a whole army of them and throwing care to the wind.

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

When is the projected date for actually selling these and other Dreamforge models? For those of us who missed out on the KS, are you actually going to sell the product in the store or online or something?

The core trooper box set have the helmeted heads, as I was previewing the accessory pack I used the heads from that set. The reason for providing them was to allow for some variation and allow you to represent a Officer and NCO in your squad so that the miniatures are easily recognizable on the table.

Anything is possible! it all comes back to financial viability. If they sell like gang-busters I see no reason not to add more options... time will tell.

General release will be sometime in February. Through DFG, Wargames Factory and eventually through all the major distributors to your FLGS.

ironicsilence wrote:I hope im smart enough to put these guys together >.<

You will do just fine If you can put together a Spes-Murheen, you can assemble these. The core troopers share the same configuration and number of parts, this is simply an add-on pack for more details such as packs and pouches and well as arm poses without hands so that you can combine those components for unique models.

I was originally joking, but now am tempted to put it together and have it either stomping a spes muhreen over and over, or hoping up and down on a rhino.
