I've become spoiled by leveling with a partner...

I went off in the beginning of Act 2, to try and open the road by the Prisoner's Gates, but mostly to grind out some levels. I earned 2 while out there, but man is it tough goings by yourself.

Elemental resistance really is useful after the prison...
Everything and their mum deals elemental damage of some sort after that it seems.

It's funny, my main is a shadow, and I seem to rarely if ever use traps. Right now I use a bow. Just waltz about using puncture with multiple shots support gem, and poisoned shot with fork support gym. I rarely if ever use traps, and I don't see how I'll ever go back to using melee weapons, considering how frequently I dink health potions when I try.

I must be doing pretty good, I've been solo the whole time, and I've only died twice, the first time through exploding martyrs on my first encounted, and the second time with flicker strike spiders on my first encounter. Besides those annoying spots I haven't had too much trouble.

Running with my Marauder, I'm very prone to dying lol... Sweep, Leap Slam, and Ground Wave are my AoE moves, and while they work very well, some of these enemies can hit hard before they go down. Thankfully the only thing that happens in default league when dying is I go back to town. Since I've been leveling with a partner, we just open a portal and I get back into the action, as a solo... I just have to run some ways.

Are you playing a tank marauder or just as much damage as you can do?

I got to 39 on my Ranger, then in 2nd Difficulty i was getting smashed by certain mobs, a tad under geared it seems.

Yeah... I'm survivable, but I need to learn to solo... I've yet to really play this game without a partner, so I tend to not run away when the enemies are almost dead...

Though I did find a nifty loophole... I got a Named Kite Shield (yellow item) that had +15 INT but it needed a 20+ Int to use, so I grabbed an amulet from my buddy with +INT, threw it on, equipped the shield, and then removed the Amulet, and it still counts the shield (Checked for the little "Item stats not counted" thing)... yay bugs! I'm aware that it will get fixed most likely, but it's a stop gap until I can get my STR stuff situated away so I can take the Versatility skill and get +10 INT

Does this game have interesting story/background to discover or is it just a hardcore gamer-game? Slightly intrigued by it.

Btw my definition of 'interesting' is pretty darn generous.

I'm trying to figure out the story... You are imprisoned upon a ship and you get tossed over board, you managed to survive the stormy seas to wash up on land...

I'm sure there are others that know more about the story than I do, I just kinda wanna play it's in beta, so I'll learn the story later imo.

This game's pretty neato. Goes without saying i absolutely suck lol, its certainly no cakewalk like torchlight. I reckon the game becomes a little better once you've got a handful of abilities to choose from during combat.

Surprisingly even the graphics are quite nice on my (new, mid-range) laptop.

EDIT: Also the background seems quite intriguing.
