I'd say the Nickleback hate started in their sound. They're clean as hell musically speaking, and Chad Kroger (also a noted d-bag) as said that's actually a goal for the band. That isn't normal for any category of rock. They also catch justified flak for all of their songs sounding the same. So they just come off as very studio/sell out, and a bunch of other things rock fans despise.

On the actual list it surprised me that root canals made the list as more popular by over 50%. Though thinking about it, you can't get novicane when dealing with Congress.

The secret to Nickleback's success, four simple chords.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

I see your profile says you are in Kamloops, BC. Therefore, I call shenanigans, sir. I do not believe it is possible to live in BC and not know what Nickelback sounds like.

I may have heard there songs without knowing it is Nickleback, but since I don't know what they sound like I can't tell you if it was them.

-Because they sound just like that gakky bar band that tries -and fails- to rock your face off when all you want to do is have a drink with your friends.

-Because every song they've released since Silver Side Up has been whiny as Hell.

-Because Chad Kroeger is a d-bag.

-Because they really, really suck live.

-Because they are responsible for Theory of a Deadman.

-Because about ten years ago there were only 3 radio stations in Vancouver that played contemporary rock music, and from 2001 to 2003 at any given moment 2 of those 3 stations would be playing a song by either Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman or Default. I really wish that I was exaggerating, but I'm not.

(Anecdotally, I remember listening to Station X and changing the station to avoid a Nickelback song, and hearing the same song on Station Y. So I changed it to Station Z, and got a Default song. So I switched back to Station X in hopes that Nickelback would be done, and it was, but a Theory of a Deadman song was playing. So I switched to Station Y, and it was the same Default song as was playing on Station Z. So I cycled to Station Z, and they had begun playing the Nickelback song that I tried to avoid originally. This was in the summer of 2003. I did not listen to the radio again until 2008.)

I see we have a similar distaste for certain bands. All of those you listed, drove me fething NUTS for a couple years. And it was the same crap here as well, the 3 rock channels would all rotate that crap over and over and over again. Those bands, are the main reason I got into Classic Rock, because it was the only channel that would have something decent or better on
