From my experience, both types will work. Shoota Boyz will allow you to take out a few extra before you assault (reducing the amount of overwatch), but Slugga Boyz will give you extra attacks during the assault (to make up for overwatch casualties).

I prefer shootatrukks.
12 boyz are meh in assault, as they swing last and have no armour worth a damn. Sometimes they get wiped wholesale before even getting to swing.
10-11 shootas and a big shoota doing a drive-by shooting, OTOH is hilarious

I'm trying to build my own Evil Sunz/Speed Freekz army and I have quite a few Nob models from the Black Reach though I did replace some of their choppas with Klaws already. If I wanted to run a full ten Nob squad in a Trukk, what's the best loadout for them?
I'm already planning on using one space for the Painboy. I'm also thinking of the Waaagh! banner. What else? How many Klaws should an all Nob squad have? Is 'eavy Armor worth it? Are Bosspoles worth it? If so, how many of those should I have?
I'm not planning on being hyper competitive. I just want to go really fast and then stomp some stuff. That's what Orks do, fly around the galaxy looking for a good time. They'll be backed by other Trukks and Bikers of course.
Don't tell me to do Nob Bikers, I already know of their potential power and will try them later.
Bosspole and Waaaagh! Banner are mandatory, as is the Painboy. Grot orderly is optional. As for which armor upgrade to get, cybork bodies is only 5 points per model and grants a 5++ invulnerable save, while eavy armor grants a regular 4+ armor save at the same cost. I would advise Cybork for everyone, facing power weapons really sucks.
I wouldn't run more than one or two PKs. Only one if your warboss runs with the nobs. PKs get expensive fast, and I'd rather have another 2 wound t4 5++ FNP body in my mob than a third of fourth PK. Keep in mind that nobs are fragile as hell without Lookoutsir and wound allocation shenanigans.

'Eavy Armor is pretty pointless unless you got spare points. Its only a 4+ vs a 5+ youre already buying, and majority of things you want your nobs to go after will go right through that 4+ anyway.
I find grot orderly to be stupid. Its 5pts for ONE reroll, not even the entire unit its a single dice. Worthless to me.
Waaagh! Banner pretty much makes you hit on 3s, since with the exception of HQs just about everything is WS3-4.
Usually i dont put BP's in my nobz because im usually running a warboss in there and he has one. If you arent running a boss in it, or you intend to fork off and attack two targets, get atleast 1 in there.
Dont need more than 2 pks, they cant be challenged out so unless you put them at the front you should be getting both of their attacks during any conflict. 4 attacks at Str9 Ap2 usually shuts up just about everything provided you dont roll 1s, let alone 8 attacks lol.

Depends on the army you face, i had shootas in mine when i faced DE. Moved up unloaded the boyz behind cover (with objective) and used the trukk to ramm his transport thingie... funniest thing was... i got a pen on that str 5... and it exploded afterwards
Man... that was my trukk moment of the day <3 you rammshackle!

Thanks. This seems pretty useful. I have 10 Black Reach Nobz, 5 I got ridiculously cheap off of eBay ($50 for all Marines and Orks) and 5 more off of a friend with 5 additional Klaw bitz. So, I have 5 with Klaws and 5 with choppas and sluggas. At least three of the klaw dudes will have poles fashioned to them (that should be fun) and split off into boy squads, which leaves 7 models with 2 klaws; Nobz # 8, 9, and 10 can be pole, banner, and painboy. I don't think I'll be running a boss in the same squad, at least not anytime soon (the Black Reach box's Warboss is missing his head ). If I am running one at all, he's probably riding a bike because of Evil Sunz fluff and I have the Forge World model (I couldn't help myself, he just looks so... ).

Yea that model is epic, ive talked myself out of getting it many times though because its so expensive and i could build it myself faster than that would come in the mail. And still look good.
Ive never ran a walking warboss before, hes just as strong but much more vulnerable. I pretty much only run biker or mega boss. Meganob boss would be good with footslogging normal nobz too since he can soak up all the damage from the exploded trukk.
On the other hand ive never ran footslogging nobz either lol. Meganobz yes, but normally i do biker nobz if i have elite nobz in my army.
