I usually scout them if I go first. Zoom up 12" then zoom up another 12" & shoot side or rear armour. If I need to I can break them up to shoot 2x different targets.

Just asking (not ork player myself) doesn't grot artillery fit the bill?
Or is their range or STR to low.I rarely saw any in 5 TH ed but the new artillery rules makes them somewhat viable and now they seem to be played more,i saw some people try them in their tournament lists.

Not really long-range. Longest Big gun range is the Lobba, which is pretty much only anti-infantry. SAG or some sneeky ouflankers (either Koptas or Kommandos) would work best.

Kannons are the big guns with punch, Str8 AP3 single shot OR Str5 Ap5 small blast. But its 36inches, so it wouldnt solve anything.
Dont get me wrong, kannons are awesome. I just find it lame that a single table-long shot tends to screw over orks since we dont have equally long range, and what we do that has some range is only Str7 and all of the table-range guns i know of are at LEAST AV12, which is hard to punch.

And remember Kids, Orks can Loot Anything, so your "Allied Tau" could very easily be Looted Tau.
