Armor is very much worth it. Land Raiders are still great battle taxis with some heavy weapons. Rhinos are great bullet shields. Razorbacks are cheap weapons platforms. All of them also distract your opponent's heavy weapons fire from the real objectives takers: troops.

Armor is certainly worth it in this edition. The only thing different is that heavy armor (AV13+) is relatively better than lighter armor spam, rather than the other way around as it was in 5th ed. Your preds and land raiders should do fine.

As for termies, I wouldn't bother with assault termies anymore, but the shooty kind were secretly good in 5th ed, and are explicitly good now.

Then i dont no how to deal with flyers as don't like them. i would take quad guns but cost a lot and can only shoot at flyers. so realy ther is no way to deal with flyers in less you run flyer list and take less troops and tanks

There's a reason that modern militaries (especially the US) establish what is called "air superiority" before sending in the ground forces. When you rule the sky, the ground will almost inevitably follow.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

If fliers are really bugging you, then just take more assault cannons. They're one of the best marine weapons anyways, and put out lots of shots. Twin-linked assault cannon razorbacks can do horrific things to fliers. Alternately, if you must, try some rifleman dreads. Hell, you can even take a lot of twin-linked lascannons. A regular old land raider with two of those and a multimelta averages a hit per turn against a flier on average, and if either lascannons or melta weapons hit a flier, it tends to bring them down, and in a hurry.

Or you could just ignore them and focus on winning the ground game. Pretty much the only flier you have to be all that worried about is the helldrake, but I don't know if it's worth it to bring a few middling anti-air weapons into the fold just to handle that one unit.

Drop pod on their face and kill all their stuff by the mid-point of turn 2, and you've already pretty much won the game. All the fliers are going to be able to do is desperately attempt to claw them out of an incredibly desperate position on the ground.

As much as people like and fear airplanes, it's boots on the ground that win the games. Remember that, and fliers look less scary.

Quad guns are only an answer to one plane, provided you actually destroy it. of course against my Dakkajets it takes one down the instant it comes in, but mine never even dents anyone elses (curse my luck...). Theyre just a chance to deny a unit entirely, not a hard counter to the entire plot.

The thing i hate about planes in general is theyre either lame and ignorable (Burna-bommas...) or HOLY COW KILL IT NOW !!! KILL IT!!! and practically takes a third to half your army to deal with it unless youre lucky as hell.

As for the OP: Armor is useful if you get it in pairs or more. Never get a single vehicle, even if its a long-range snipe. Your opponent will usually have some kind of anti-tank and if you only have 1 vehicle then everything he has that can pop it will charge it immediately. Mass it, you might not have enough troops, finding a balance makes them useful

You could try some tau allies to bring a trio of broadsides, strong anti-armor / flier battlesuits that have a good chance of trashing a flier.
