Eh. More limited than most, perhaps, but they still have options.
And M6 is a bonus, to be sure (it's just not technically a bonus that's derived from being on a big base). I don't think it's as big a bonus as it used to be, though, with random charge-range.

Granted, there are some ogres lists that require less skill than others. But the army is far too rewarding for the amount of effort you have to put into playing.

Didn't give lord a ward save But seriously just get a ghoul king, less chance of a miscast and 5+ regeneration.

Why is there less chance of a Miscast with a Ghoul King?
Also, if you field one, I'd strongly recommend the Dragonbane Gem. Best 5 points you can spend.
@thedarkavenger: I think that (1) Deathstars are too rewarding for the thought put into them and (2) Mournfangs are too good. And maybe Ironblasters.

A vampire lord is a better choice due to the fact that he can take armour. A good tip if you're relying on a single mage in an army like VC is to take the earthing rod.

Compared to other armies, Ogres chaff is more rewarding. Sabretusks cost 21 points and cause fear. And then we have leadbelchers, who, in a unit of 4, can do more potential damage than a unit of 20 glade guard.

Okay, fair point: Sabretusks are pretty absurd, just because you can field them as 1 model. Kinda' wished they'd be S5 or something, and then cost more. I feel like Goblins and Skaven should win the "most efficient chaff" competition.
As for Leadbelchers, they're good. Very good, in fact. I haven't seen enough of them to make a judgement beyond that.
But potential damage, on its own at least, is a poor way to compare troops performance. I'd like to look at the average damage output of the two units, and compare prices, and other such stuff.

If he is in combat with red fury and say an obsidian blade 1) there won't be much left to face him, 2) his combind toughness and 5+ regen should quite easily see him through. I would take a Mortis Engine though as insurance...

I do generally field a vampire but I have found my ghoul king on the hole performs much better for much less so I have started using him. Never put him on a terrorgheist, that would just be silly.

The chances are the same. The likelihood is more as you're using more dice.

If we are talking about lv 4 sorceror vs a lv1 then there is no contest, throughout the game the lv4 one is going to have a far greater chance of a miscast...

It depends. A level 4 shadow mage is less likely to miscast due to the number of dice he has to roll.

Not likely, you take level 1s to cast spells on 1, maybe 2 dice. This means that the odds of them miscasting are far less likely than the level 4, who does all the heavy lifting. Which is why, in VC, you take an earthing rod on your level 4.

I think you misunderstand me I am saying the lv 1 is less likely to miscast than the lv 4
