So the guy obviously knows what its like to have a large collection destroyed by a you when you were younger, but feels that its perfectly ok to let his own spawn destroy your things later? If I'd done anything like that as a child I would not be here to type this now. Did they even offer to replace the stuff, or are you cutting him slack because he is meant to be a friend? I can't say that I respect his parenting skills, especially if his was his idea. If the kids grow up thinking its ok to destroy someone else's property it's going to be fun when they hit puberty.

Yeah hes a close friend. He let his kids know it was bad what they did and they also got punished. The kids know what they did wrong and everything. So basically the situation was resolved, just the only problem is that he didn't have the money or the desire to buy my models back for me. He doesn't really care about the models :/ he just wants his kids to know right and wrong. Anyways Ive calmed down about the whole thing and i guess its fine with me. I just want to know how to get some new models Automatically Appended Next Post: Desubot wrote:Pssh

There are plenty of reasons to keep them chained down in that play pen until 18 and you can legally kick them out...
Back on topic.
I have a few small children and I can understand the situation you are in. It's hard to be mad because, quite frankly, the models do look like a lot of fun. Especially when they see me playing a game they want to join in. For some reason the bikers are a favorite.
You might consider doing what I did a few months ago. Buy a box of the cheap green army men. You can get about 50 or so for like $20 in their own case with a tank and helicopter (link: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3546319). I let the 3 year old "paint" those while I'm painting mine; and while playing they drag them out and have their own war. It's really cheap insurance as they know the green soldiers are theirs while the others are mine. Works out well.

I agree with this. I literally have 180 grots I have already painted, about 60 metal grots unpainted and about 40 plastic ones... I keep all of my AoBR and grots in a box which any kid interested in painting with me can play with or paint.
I have even had times where the kids paint the model 'good enuff' for me to do a little touch up and wash and they can hit the battlefield.
Once they kinda learn about the painting and making something, they seem to treat the models with a different level of respect.

How about you hold the parents responsible... send them a bill. I know they are 'just kids' but still.
I have this fear every time I take my armies to the store tut start to play... and absolutely HATE it when kids come in and just start touching.

Reading this thread I cannot help but be touched by the community's helpful spirit. Threads like this where fellow members help one another are one of the reasons this community is outstanding.
A very rare find out here on the interwebs.
I'm afraid I do not have any catchans myself but I have a few plasma guns from Dark vengeance bikers I could part with.
It's not much but enough for a few heavy weapons guys perhaps.
Shipping wouldnt cost any more then postage so dont worry about it.
Send me a PM if youre interested.

You did have a reason: those things are expensive. Tell the parents that they have to pay for the damage. When they find out that they have to fork out $500 to replace your stuff, you can bet your ass that next time.. They'll tell their own kids not to touch.
I know you said they are your friends, and they are strapped for cash right now. But I would still make them responsible so they get why you don't want the kids touching stuff. Take them to the GW website and show them the prices of all the stuff they have to replace. See if they don't s**t bricks. Obviously you don't actually have to take their money, but it would be good for a wind up at least, and will make a point.

Thanks everybody for the help. Through a couple of deals, I now have all the basic troops back (and like 14 extra mortar teams!) I just wanted to say thanks for it all. The kids got in trouble and they did learn there lesson, I just can't let them anywhere near my models anymore. I tried to teach them the value of painting and modelling, but they just don't get it. By the way, I know the parents didn't do it because I saw the kids doing it and they admitted. Anyways the parents don't understand the hobby or why someone would pay that much money for "stuff you can get out of a quarter machine at the supermarket". But they did get that they're expensive and that's what matters. So my is army, for the most part, is back, and hopefully soon, better than ever, just a lot of painting to do .
