Hello and welcome to the first of an irregular series of ramblings where I’ll lift the curtain on what the Black Library editorial team are working on. Well, I say ‘lift the curtain’. Really, I’ll just swoosh the curtain around a bit and tease you because, well, it’s fun.
What better way to start than by talking about yesterday’s big announcement of the Horus Heresy Weekender? This event has us editors very excited, because it means we get a chance to tell loads of new Horus Heresy stories in an event-exclusive anthology, amongst other yet-to-be-announced things… (Also because several of us are Horus Heresy gamers, so a chance to work alongside Forge World is always a good thing!)
What’s that? You want me to tell you about the stories? Hmm, well… okay, if you promise not to tell anyone. My esteemed colleague Laurie Goulding has been feverishly gathering tales from authors such as Graham McNeill, Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Rob Sanders, Gav Thorpe and John French.
As for what the stories cover… Well, I have to be cryptic. Actually, that’s a fib. I don’t have to be, I just want to. So…
· Someone who returned from the dead has an encounter with an old friend who seems to have done the same.
· Fans of the Horus Heresy card game (or of the Collected Visions book) will recognise the titles of two of the stories.
· John French continues the exploration of Horus that he started in Warmaster.
· Two lots of Angels return, but their primarchs don’t. Yet. (As an aside, just what are the Lion and Sanguinius up to? Maybe we’ll find out soon…)
· We might well see more of the many-headed serpent, the servants of a different serpent altogether and perhaps even a certain sunless world.
If that has you as excited about the Horus Heresy Weekender as us, then why not pop over and pick up a ticket? Also, if you have any suggestions for future topics to cover in this series, drop us a line at
contact@blacklibrary.com and I will give them due consideration. Thanks for reading.
Graeme.
