Executing Exarch

I genuinely doubt that they realized that people would still think it was ambigious, after reading the FAQ.

I have no doubt that they think that writing "the ability is conveyed to any unit of Striking Scorpions Karandras joins" in the codex, and having the following entry in the FAQ, is sufficiently clear.

Eldar FAQ wrote:Q. As Phoenix Lords are not Exarchs, but independent characters, do their exarch powers (Shadowstrike, Skyleap, etc.) affect units other than Aspect Warriors? (p54)
A. Their powers only affects units of Aspect Warriors.

Note also that the phrasing here is that the power only "affects" units of Aspect Warriors. I would think there's a pretty strong RAW argument to be made that gaining +1 cover save from having an IC in the squad with Stealth, even if the other models don't have Stealth themselves, is still that power affecting them.

Just to present the other side of the discussion - The FAQ states exarch powers.
The striking scorpion exarch powers are shadowstrike and stalker. Stealth is not an exarch power, it's a usr they've given him. The same as Baharroths Hit and Run - normal exarchs don't get them at all.
The reason it specifically lists scorpions to be affected by the power is the rule was written in 4th ed. Without that piece of wording, the scorpions wouldn't have had the rule as stealth didn't confer to the whole squad in 4th.

I let this slide when I play, as a farseer with invisibility gives this unit a 2+ cover save (with conceal stacking). Karandras's stealth is a really expensive way to give them a 4+ cover save.

In the same way as the phoenix lords are fearless and confer this to any unit of their aspect they join - yet if they lead another squad, fearless is given anyway as all you need is 1 model in a unit with it. Even though that is completely opposite to RAI.

Can't wait for the new codex.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.
