I understand entirely what you mean. But that whole area is so crowded with detail already that any more would be too much and over the top in my opinion. I agree what people are saying in that the stole is a very detailed garment but it also rests upon some relatively plain robes in comparison. This model is the other way around, the stole is resting upon an area that is quite detail heavy.

The close combat arm is a forgeworld arm with a plastic venerable dreadnought fist. The arm it's compromises of a shoulder and a separate arm section that can be angled as you wish.

Jerp: As I explained in a previous post, I'm not a fan of the whole glowing plasma weapons look, it just looks a little silly. It's just a personal preference, if people choose to paint their plasma weapons nice and glowy then so be it. Cheers for the comment s though.

I'm leaving some of the stole bits off on my FW DA venerable dreadnought. The angel of death looks too cool to be left hidden under it.I may just GS a torn piece on to give it that look of having it torn/burnt in battle

It is a great bit of detail. Luckily the stole only covers a small part of it.

I think this dread looks great. I run my dread-brute with a plasma cannon as well, but didn't want to commit to putting OSL on the main body of the model for when I use different wargear. I simply did a much softer glow only on the gun arm itself and it actually worked out pretty well.
But yeah. Do or do not. This guy still looks beast.

OSL seems a pain in the bum to do..kudos to those who can make it work though. Personally, I feel the only light that should be coming from a plasma weapon is when it comes out the barrel. The coils I think are where the gets hot rule comes in so if anything they'd be quite a bright red- or white if you're prone to rolling 1s lol

My thoughts exactly.

That's why the coils on mine are painted as a heat washed metal.

Cheers!

That was the plan. He-he! I am happy with how it all came together. I'm glad it's got a Dark Angel feel to it.
