Angry marine, I'm on the same boat.
sixth is a time consuming wargame.

I understand our hobby is a wargame. Cool. But it is so much more. Now its all about tournaments and organized play and winning.

Winning is nice.... but because of sound strategy, not sheer numbers or luck.

I cant run a fluffy de army for the life of me, because there's no hope of having fun while doing it.

Everyone at the hobby store is a total rule Nazi, and they would sooner choke you to death because you won fair and square with a non tournament list, than shake tour hand and admit defeat.

Faulty cause and effect? Probably. My personal experience means nothing, I know, but I miss the hobby I got into by accident. I only got a year of the good stuff.
Oh well I'm over it.

Atleast I can still run my favorite lists with My friends, and they soundly admit defeat

I voted for 6th, but I have a lot of fond memories with second edition in large part because that was the very first edition I played and I fell in love with the game. Overall though I feel 6th is emerging as the better edition even with it's flaws, and let's be honest, what edition hasn't had it's flaws?

Third edition would be my vote for the worst. It felt like they gutted the game in order to streamline the play which certainly has it's advantages but doing so at the cost of the character and flavor of the game only resulted in a bland, boring (albeit more streamlined) game. Shooting an Assault Cannon used to be exciting, then third made it a snooze-fest (not to mention a pretty pathetic weapon until it became rending).
