The Manta would like to talk to you about that...

Mantas are kinda' worse than the other flyers, because you opponents will hit them with normal BS. And because of its huuuuuge footprint, it is harder to maneuver with it.

And +1 to the Vendetta. The Baledrake is a close second.

You can take 9 Vendettas in a legal 1500pt list. To take 9 Necron Fliers you need over 1600pts.

Sure, 9 Vendettas at 1500pts is god-awful, but the point still stands; 9 Vendettas is just shy of 1200pts. To get 9 Necron fliers you need just over 1500pts.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Best Transport Flyer: Night Scythe

Unlike other flyers, there is basically no risk to putting a unit inside of it.

You have the best rule for getting into and out of it.

Decent Guns, Dedicated so no FOC issues, Decent price.

Best Cost for Damage: Vendetta

It is absurd how cheap this thing is based on the guns it carries.

Good armor and can transport okay if you need to.

Helldrake counters the most common answers to flyers.

The Aegis line counters vendetta hard with a 2+ cover save against its guns. The Flamer does not care about that.

You can get close to other flyers and force them to fly past you and not shoot you. 360 bale flamer does not care about that.

The most common answer to flyers that some list have is to go horde, hide in cover and hope to not die and control objectives. The Hell Drake is made to counter that.

Wheras's 6+ necron flyers, are a very good ("Good", by which I mean, they can win, but be hated for it) option, therefore I assumed the necron flyer's were better. No ties to squadrons Unit's inside don't die when it gets shot down. Very cheap for what it does. .

The helldrake. It breaks the game slightly with it's 360 degree LoS.

The vendetta is amazing because of it's cost, but has more conventional armament.

Night scythe and storm raven also both brilliant. (especially with the FAQ's for the night scythe)

Its tied between the vendetta and the helldrake. Both are exceptional. They fill different roles.

After a few experiments the Phoenix Bomber easily became my fav.

1 x S8 AP2 Heavy 2
2 x S5 AP3 Heavy 3/ launcher
2 X S6 AP5 Assault 3 on AA-Mount (Flyers cannot jink/evade)

BS 4 with Strafing run so BS5 vs ground targets
Shrouded (5+ permanent cover/ 3+ evade)
Vector Dancer (180 degree turns)

for roughly the cost of a Storm Raven

Best pound for pound? Maybe not but often underestimated and discarded until you see one in action.

just as a side note
It can only fire 4 of the guns at once. But I've seen it decimate marines regardless.

I find my nightwings perform better than my phoenix on a game by game basis - 2+ evade is lovely. Until Vector strike happens - at which point armour 10 and no coversave means all the eldar fliers are going down.
I take 2 nightwings and a phoenix in a normal game. I've not fought against chaos in this edition yet (with my eldar) - but heldrakes/FMC's are going to have to be killed with extreme predjudice.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

You didn't state anything other than the fact 6-9 of them can be taken below 2k points as your reason why Necron fliers are the best. In fact, you stated it was purely for that reason. Being good at what they do never came into it.

Pretty sure the Vendetta blows everything else out of the water, or rather air.
