I think Sanguinius's core quality was his loyalty. He was the anti-Horus. Dorn was loyal also -- obviously -- but in a weird co-dependent way. Sanguinius is IMO the best Primarch. OTOH, I don't really care for the BA.

I think that's a fair point, and I'm definitely inclined to agree that he's the best Primarch. But he was going to sacrifice himself for his Legion, which I think was due ro his humanity (or loyalty to his Legion) and maybe wouldn't have been the best thing to do at the time!

But say some ridiculously handsome gentleman wished to turn Sanguinius to Chaos and play upon his flaws, how would you think that possible?

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Honestly, I think you have to reinvent him totally and I think that will come off poorly. The best thing I can think of is mining the Red Thirst/Black Rage angle but I still think that would involve rebuilding him from the ground up if you want to make him a traitor. I mean, I'm saying his main quality is loyalty -- and you're talking about inverting this same main quality.

I knew you'd say that!

Not that I can blame you, that's somewhat how I feel too (which is reassuring to be fair).

I guess there is also the issue of his mutation.

Yeah, I think he could have easily been persecuted (as a mutant), rather than loved; which could have effected his character somewhat, for example. And then there's the question of where these mutations came from...
