i would think that computers, in the broadest sense of the word, are everywhere in the IoM. take the ubiquitous lasgun for example, i can't see how an advanced laser based weapon could operate without a computer of some kind to regulate it. likewise, sniper scopes, unless they are purely optical will have some kind of computers in them. same with comms units and such.

The limits to the technology would be the OS i would think, with only the most basic OS being present in the majority of devices. a mobile phone has a computer that can perform millions, if not billions of calculations a second and they are relatively easy to produce.

I can just see it now, its a battlefield in the 41st millenium, enemies are all around, and the automated defence turrets are overloaded with targetting data, a message flashes up on the small status monitor...
