Damn, that's a lot of bugs. That's an impressive army you got there I personally wouldn't commission my models, but I have nothing against you for doing it. People are in the hobby for different reasons, and for me, modelling and (attempting) to paint my own models is what does it, but I fully appreciate that that aspect is not for everyone, and in your case it's more about having a large, completed force to use in games. Whats wrong with that? I for one appreciate that you've gone to such lengths to make sure your army is complete, rather than give your opponents a horde of half or unpainted models to play against. Anyway, sweet army my friend! How the hell do you cart it around though?!

Heh, you see the first thing I've always said I'd do on a gaming front if I won the lottery was pick an army I've always wanted but couldn't find the time to put together/paint, and pay for a Golden Daemon standard paint job from the lowliest trooper to the HQ.
I don't have any issue with this at all, amazing collection and would also echo seeing a Guard/Nid square off would be excellent.

Right now, transportation is rather sloppy. I used a lot of plastic bins and blankets. I have some real sturdy shoe boxes from when I buy my boots for my uniforms so I packed those up too. I bought this filing box from office max a while back and the Hierophant fits perfectly inside. I'll have do to some more photos of him. great army, now bring it to valhalla !!!!
22000 points outfitted as I would play them. This includes formations and the like. That point cost is for my Apocalypse army list rather than my army master roster.
Oh, and my dream is to have an apocalypse game at Valhalla with the whole force, but I'm not sure anyone would bring so many models. Perhaps if I planned ahead with BTP they'd have something... I'd really have to show up though and I'm not sure I can plan with that kind of certainty with my job.

With wargear. I got the models during the time when the GW Faq specified that you couldn't use the weapon on the bastion. I forget the verbage, but the gun on the bastion is called one thing and the one attached to the wall is battlefield debris. So, since it didn't specifically say, I was kind of hoping I could use the quad gun. They then changed the FAQ to include the aegis wall quad gun and I was hosed, lol. Hopefully in APOC they'll at least let me put in on the table. It won't do a darn thing, but I want to have it out at least.

Wait a minute. You commission SUCH an army and transport it in shoeboxes? Perhaps you should think about some KR Multicases or Battlefoam Transports. They are expensive but its the best to transport without being scared of having your awesome army chip over time. They are also perfect for storage if you dont store it in a showcase (which is what you should do!! )
The army is impressive and i like the scheme. I like playing against a commissioned force which looks beautiful much more than playing against Mr. Paintball and his Crewmembers. So for you.

I need to take some pictures of my glass cases... They're nice. I do need to spend some time with battlefoam in all honesty. However, BTP did such a great job that I've had almost zero chipping over the years.
My zoanthropes are in pretty bad shape... but they're metal and I've had them for 5 years. Same with the Hive Guard. The only other thing I'm having problems with are my venomthropes because their tentacles bend and the paint cracks off at the point where it bends.
When I transport my models by car, I've never broken a model. In fact, the two hormagaunts that broke off their bases were when I was packing them up in a battlefoam case and they were sticking up just a smidge out of the tray when I set the next tray in.
All in all, well assembled models are pretty resilient and I've hand no problems over the years. In fact, when I went out to Utah for Valhalla an artist reglued my two hive guard that came apart in my battlefoam tray and actually touched up the top of their carapaces where the tray above them rubbed some of the paint off over the years. Great product, great service. If anyone has any questions about ordering from Blue Table Painting let me know.

The photo is of an exquisitely done army. I say exquisite because the army has: 1) size, 2) uniformity (with a degree of unique terrain conversions) and, 3) is painted with a good degree of skill and detail.
(I didn't put style as that's subjective, IMO even the most well-done Dark Angels are still dour, emo, space catholics)
This is a time consuming hobby and, most people who I played against don't have 1 of the 3. Someone who has put in the work to achieve -all 3- is to be commended.
Even if he only bought that army, which I agree is a far lesser achievement, well he's making good moves somewhere to have the scratch to buy that.
To whoever built and painted all the Tyranids, " Excellent!"

That, indeed, is easily the most extensive amount of Nids I've seen on one table, and one of the most impressive in terms of painting and modeling.

So explain this to me. OP posts this army that he had painted for him and gets grief from some that his army is somehow lessened because of this. Yet when artists who paint for commission post their works they are praised for their skill. Seems to me that if it is wrong to pay someone else to paint your army then it should be just as wrong be the guy who's painting and getting paid for it, right?
On top of that, for those who claim that the OP has nor properly partook in the hobby because wile he plays the game but doesn't paint, why no hate for those who paint but never play?
Again I have no problem for someone who wants a beautiful army but does not have either the time or skill (or both) and commissions someone else to do it for him.

I've got to agree with you. I can't really think of anything bad about paying someone to paint your army, so long as you don't try and lie about it.

As someone who owns a similar amount of Nids all I can say I wish I had got them commissioned as I'm not even 20% done painting mine...
Edit: Is your challenge for painted armies only? Mine isn't too far off yours and I know there are some people on the Tyranid Hive forums that have more then double my collection.

Mine's not far off and all painted by my own fair hand, to admittedly lower standards. edit, scratch that, it's about the same standard re looking at the pics.
I've since added 20 gargoyles, winged rippers, 6 zoanthropes, 6 drop pods, 2 venomthropes, 6 winged waarriors, 3 trygons, barbed hierodule, 3 tyrants, pyrovore, more warriors and some other stuff.
Also themed terrain... http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/58648-.html?m=2 have also done some infested Cities of death terrain too.
Could get picks if you feel you need proof but it takes about 3hrs to get them in and out of the cabinet! Last model count was around 350! This pic looks way smaller than OP's due to the spacing.
Also I do recall seeing a truely immense HF Leviathan army somewhere it must have been 3 times the size of mine Anyone remember or got pics???

And I finally found one flaw with the OPs army, you need lots more ripper swarms! Automatically Appended Next Post: Link to another large tyranid force.
