I hope Slaan generations come back, replacing the current Disciplines (cuz seriously, its the Disciplines that most people have trouble with).
Also, sacred spawnings. Be cool to have those back too.
Pretty sure Lizards will get their own Lore too - at least one. Maybe two (one for Slaan, one for Skinks, ala Big Waagh / Little Waagh)

So many models, even less time.

I'm a brand new lizardmen player so I don't have a lot of experience with them and everything I think is probably wrong.
I think Skink Skirmishers will probably get a point increase because they seem really strong and they get a lot of play.
I would have thought saurus warriors would get a decrease or stay the same but I guess I'm just using them wrong. Being I1, I lose a lot before I even get a chance to swing and with WS3 I don't feel like I get a lot of hits in. That being said I've mostly been in CC with Savage Orcs and Warriors of Chaos.
I wouldn't mind a point decrease on Saurus Cav either but I would also be happy with a Dark Elf Cold One model. Our Cold One looks kind of derpy with malformed hands. The Cold Ones look like they need styrofoam helmets.

You are clearly existing in an alternate dimension. Saurus are excellent for their cost... that's why tournaments will so frequently have three of the buggers.
The salamander is just hell against T3 troops, not so much against T4 troops. I mean if you cant take out a sally you are kind of lame
It is less excellent outrageously powerful against T4, but still performs very well for its points cost.
And anyone can take out one salamander. It's taking out multiples that gets tricky, and anytime you have to commit a shooting phase and a few charges to clear out a couple of hundred points of chaff... well there's very obviously a big problem. Dwarves are different, as much of the reason for dropping the mass of special items and rules is to give everyone the same set of options in the BRB. But Dwarves can't access the BRB, and so need a lot more options in their own book.

DoC used to not be able to access the BRB. You know, cuz they were made of magic and didn't have their great grandfather's Sword of Rabbit Slaying.
Then they said, scratch that, EVERYTHING they have is a magic item. +2 strength? Magic item. Hellblade? Magic item. And they can now access the BRB, though just weapons.
I bet phat lewts Dorfs will get BRB access and runes will just be more generic buffs. It's too hard to have 2 (or more) whole BRBs of items. One real one and one for each army book. I mean, the BRB section of magic equipment isn't even that large. We see the issues now where 8th BRB toned down magic items and races like Elves and Lizardmen still have these crazy-powerful gear lists.

I hope not, because having a set of combinable runes that allow you to make customisable armour is one of the best ways to make Dwarves unique*. I mean, right now the Dwarf rune system doesn't quite work as the points costs are a little off, but potentially...
*Without this, they're basically tough, slow infantry with good war machines, otherwise defined by all the stuff they don't get (don't get wizards, don't get cavalry, don't get monsters, don' tt monstrous cavalry, don't get monstrous infantry etc...)

The problem is everyone is geared to the BRB. Lords get 100pts of magic items. Then can modify what those points buy over and over until they come up with balance. If dwarfs are internal to dwarfs where each lord buys 5 runes or one extra chunky rune or two meager massive runes, it's not balanced to the other books.
You can always give them new units. And I'm sure they will get some. Most of the armies so far that were upped to 8th already had a fair number of unit types. Guys like WE and Bretonnian and Dwarfs don't just need rules changes, they need whole new models.
What I see is very simple stuff like +1 to their armor saves, can be combined with magic armor from the BRB. +1 WS. +1 This, that, other. Maybe some +2. But the base will still be the BRB. That way if they decide in 9th that magic items are evil and 100pts should only get you +1 init useable on the first turn of combat, dwarfs get that too, just modified by runes.

As much as I think it would be interesting to see a combination of BRB material with Runes. I dont think I would like it. That would be a huge excuse to make Runes not as good and unique. And the Runes have their own laws, and arent ever used on items of foreign make. I do think it would be good if there were some generic Dwarfen crafted items in the army book like +1S weapon or +1I boots etc. that could take only one or two Runes, as opposed to making an item with 3 or more from scratch.

I agree that they could use a points increase, but they are hardly broken. They are still susceptible to unit deleting spells, just the same as other infantry.

Ah yeah thats true. Broken was not a good word choice, really I just meant broken as compared to other core. But not in a whole game kinda sense.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Yeah this is what I have heard and seen most of. With Lizardmen after High Elves and possibly a 40k Codex inbetween them or after both.

A few points:
Slann are good, but they should be. They are fluffed (rightfully) as the greatest spellcasters in the world. They SHOULD be terrors in the magic phase. I think the Disciplines are silly, the Generations were better. They should be more expensive.
Saurus: Points are right about where they should be. 11 points for 4/4 and 4+ armor. But they are slow on foot, the worst Initiative possible, and only have average WS. I am guessing the lower points compared to other Core comes from the fact they aren't paying for a BS. They are horribly vulnerable to some magic attacks and some Characteristic tests. Temple Guard are a little high, by maybe a point or two at WORST.
Cold Ones: Drop the points, and give us the cool Cold Ones the Dark Elves got.
Kroxigor: Preferred result is +1 S and +1 Toughness at the cost of -1 Wound. IF they don't change significant;y, they would need a significant points drop, probably in the 10 point range.
We'll get some sort of MC, and probably another even bigger dinosaur.
What I'd like is something to counter artillery, or some real artillery of their own.

I agree on the cavalry. But as for Slann, I agree they are fluffed to be the way they are, but there are plenty of things that are told to be one way but are another way. Slann do need to fo up in points though, and be a bit more balanced with what they can take and utilize.
The Saurus need to go back to 13 or 14pts. They are damn good, and Cold Blooded makes them all the better. I can also see Kroxigor going up a strength. But not a toughness, that would be a lot for 55pts, and Cold Blooded with a Great Weapon. I can see them going down 5pts if they dont change, but not 10.
As for war machinery, I kind of want to see some kind of Stegadon mounted catapault. Especially seeing the way that war machines have been going. It doesnt, or shouldnt, even need to be that good. But it can also be taken not mounted on the Stegadon, maybe 1-2 per Special slot, crewed by Skinks.
Also Skinks should probably be allowed Short Bows again. Blow Pipes are good, but I am thinking Short Bows for like 2pts.

Yeah, they aren't going to be as good or unique. Because when 9th comes out they will just be broken again. Runes are whatever they say they are. In the next Dwarf book, Runes could be Dwarfish for "absolute rubbish." And they cost you 10 points and do nothing.
Saurus are too cheap. It's just the way it is mathematically. You can try and argue 1 init somehow makes highly-armored, great stat, 2 attacks meaningless (hint: it doesn't).
Slann can be fluffed to be great spellcasters. That doesn't mean they are are. Everything is fluffed to be great in their own books. Because that's what fluff is for. No one would want to play the "most mediocre force of evil that ever existed in the history of the world (within the last 72 hours)." Doc are made of magic, serve the literal god of magic from the realm of magic. Yet they suck at magic. Or at least aren't much better than anyone else. Ogres are the most fearsome fighting/eating creatures around standing 10+ feet tall and 8 feet wide at the gut. Yet they're only as strong and tough as some overgrown lizard guys.
If races had to live up to their fluff, everyone would be a 700pt Lord choice and all the Core would be like 1-stat fodder who got killed by the hundreds every time some enemy general farted.

I see what you are saying. I just dont want to see the Runes go downhill. Even in 9th being broken or rubbish.
But also agree about the Saurus. Their poor Initiative is not an excuse. Also with regards to the Lore, that is true.(lol) but often I find that armies are not resembled correctly even a little. Making it difficult for the rest to be as such. None the less, I know what you are saying. Things have to be set in correct proportion for the games sake, which is good in the long haul. Im most cases
