Well. I'm about ready to call it a day on honsou for now. Mainly because I've got an insane number of orks still to paint, as well as my csm bikers, termies and chosen to finish.
Just got his magnetised display base to finish off then he's ready to face the ancient enemy.

Loving it! Good Job!

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Well. I got the base finished, so I think that's it. For now at least. I tried to make the base look as though he's standing on the lip of a trench, built up from earth and battlefield debris.
Final recipe if anyone's interested is:
AOBR snap fit legs, trimmed and cleaned up
Modified chaos marauder head
Iron warriors upgrade kit torso
Csm battleforce left arm, shoulderpad Bolter and backpack.
Chaos marauder left arm ,hand and axe pole
DV chosen axe head.
Base from old mega blocks dragons set
Skeletons from heroquest
Rhino door left over from csm rhino
Shed loads of ash and broken slate
Dead guy from god knows where.

Sorry to resurrect the thread but I just won first place in my local gw stores conversion comp.
Honsou is now on display at gw Warrington for the next month.
Thanks to this I have finally shaken off the painting blues I've suffered for the last month or so and re discovered the joy of painting.

Read all the way through this thread and you've made a drastic improvement on the model, the finished article looks really impressive.

Congrats on winning the comp.

Thanks mate. Yeah, the original was kind of embarrassing really. Thanks also to everyone who gave me advice, without your help I'd be stuck with the abomination in my first post.
