I also noticed you said you want the hobby to a part of this as well; that sounds great! Were you thinking have a 'Best Army'? I remember some really great things done with this though, like 'Best Army', then 'Best Conversion'. I've even seen 'Best Army List' once, I'm not sure if that's a regular thing but it was kind of cool, it was basically for having an interesting force (and a well-presented army list).

Did you check out the BAO style missions? Or would you like me to grab you some links? The best examples of them are probably in JY2's batreps.

We are going to have a 'Hobbyist of the Event' so basically the armies will be judged by a Rubric, on pretty much all the categories that you have listed, so modelling, paintjob, and overall theme of the army.

Well since our Tournie will be a one day event and much smaller scale to the BAO, we are only using 3 of their 7 scenarios, so you won't have as many to learn. They'll be up in the event pack.

Hi guys sorry for the quiet period, we haven't gone away. I've had some issues whilst travelling, (i.e getting passports, phones and bank cards stolen) so real life got in the way. I have been told that the ticket sales site is in the final testing stages and will be up by the weekend. And from there it should be all speed ahead

Just had it pointed out to me that I missed the points level out of the original pack, it is set at 1500 points. However, I have had a couple of people express that they would prefer it at 1850 points, if this is a popular view I will change it, as after all this is your tournament.

i think 1850 is a lot better than 1500

As for points I'll hold off on a decision until we start selling a few more tickets and then see what the general consensus is with the attendees.


We are discussing making a Facebook group for the event so that ticket buyers can join, talk to each other before the event, discuss stuff like the points level etc. and if all goes well it will be an easy place to keep in touch with people for future events etc.

Would this be something people are interested in?

Throne of skulls is usually 1500 and the next uk GT is 1650, I would prefer a 1650 to pratice for that but I do have a good 1850 army I could easily use as that has been the norm for the past few tournies.

I will have to see what I am doing nearer the time to be honest!. Get the advert up on the warhammerforum that is where most of the 40k more compeitive gamers go for tournies.

1500 is my vote but 1650 is cool to. Really don't enjoy 1850.

Ive paid for mine but for some reason im coming up as two people? Have I paid twice somehow?

Hopefully some more of my team mates will be coming as well and get their tickets soon.

Also do we have to take the army we select? Im painting Eldar at the mo as there new and shiny but no idea what ill be wanting to do in August.

Also at the start of the rules pack it lists march 2nd as the event date.

Hey boom stick, I'll have a look into the issues you've pointed out, don't worry if it is showing twice, I'll make sure you do t end up paying twice, and get the page edited. As long as the army you send a list in for is the one you bring then its all good. But no changing it after the two week deadline, we can edit the tiebreak up to represent the changes.

The date must just be a typo that we haven't noticed, it is only a draft version that we are planning on putting into the actual tiebreak.

So for the team prize all you need to do is have 3 people from your club registered for the event on Tiebreak, (see October wargames guys). The prizes are still TBD, and will be worked on what cash we have left over after, we have funded the necessities.

Ruinstorm update time! With a little over a month to go until the first (hopefully of many) 40k tournament at Leicester Phat Katz I thought it would be a good time to have a recap of where we are. We have sold nearly a quarter of the available tickets, so that is good, but still a long way to go for a sell out. An issue has been raised to me recently about some ambigous wording in the rules pack, that has put a fair few of you off buying tickets. This is issue is in regards to the painting requirement and prize eligibility. So I'll clarify it now to avoid any further confusion, if your army doesn't meet the minimum painting requirement, you will not be considered for prizes in the Painting catergory, and this category alone. Everyone who enters the tournament will be eligible for the Sportsmanship and Overall champion, regardless of painting. Hopefully that clarifies that for everyone, and sorry for any confusion (I should right rules for GW ) That's all for now, if you have any questions you know where to find me.
