Dakkamite, I'm curious. Do the people you play with use the correct rules for the Manticore? Shooting an average of two times a turn for 4 turns with Str10 AP4 isn't THAT overpowered. It's even on an easy to break Chimera chassis. I've seen you mention in another thread that it "always shoots 3 times", which is incorrect

I've only encountered it once, and that guy insisted that it fired three times per turn. I found out a few days ago that its 1d3 shots per turn. Not only was he a powergamer, and a powergamer that used a power list against a new player, but he cheats as well.

I would say that the manticore is very good for its cost. Significant coverage, both on the ground and the range of units it can effect and with the only having 4 shots thing, its not really an issue seeing as thats 4 out of 5 turns (typically) its firing. I cannot really think of anything that would reliably get a first turn kill on them. Deffkoptas could end up being your best bet but to get them reliably turn one, you'd be investing a significant amount of points into those koptas.

Oh, so the Manticore's front armour is *not* armour 14 mr powergamer?
Whats this? Manticore barrages resolve against side armour not the armour facing the barrage?
Most people need LoS to the back of my Battlewagon, but *you* don't? Cool story bro
Huh? 36" maximum range due to night fighting doesn't apply to you? My mistake!
Jesus Christ, I'm looking through all the relevant rules and this guy cheated up a goddamn storm. With a power list. Against a new player, who he knew was a new player without a power list. I nearly quit the game after that fiasco, just so he could test out his power build for an upcoming tournament.
feth that guy. I'm entering that tournament and gaking all over him.
Edit: Evidentally you roll 3d6 for scatter if firing out of LoS? Not in that game you didn't.

If he's like that on the tournament take it with the Tournament organisers and have a couple of rules ready and the pages^^
Then smile as the guy is taken away his points for the tourney or in his (worst case) kicked out.
Buuut this really goes up and down where one lives.

Orks were victorious game 2 also. Same lists from both of us. It's too easy to claim map control. He even went first. He rolled pretty bad the first turn but still. Now if only my deftkoptas can take out that damn monolith (2 games back to back they wiff) itd be an easy table. I'm thinking of adding a third deftkopta, just for the practically guarantee hit.
