Update

Okay, glad to know your still with me Sam. I've taken your vote and started work on the LR now. I hit it this afternoon with Yriel Yellow, doing my best to get it shaded in a particular way. My intention was to use the highlight color in towards the center of the armor panels, but I don't think I managed that very well with my air brush. I'm using a passche talon as my only brush, I don't think I've taken proper care of it admitedly.. It's been spluttering paint a lot more frequently as of late. I noticed a lot of this splattering while trying to get the paint flowing.. I still have a layer of flash gits to do.. But I don't think I'll be able to do it with the brush i currently have, not with out it simply covering this current layer.. It's alittle frustrating. I also painted in the weapons in Vallejo model air gun, done by hand, just to get it out of the way.. Now I'm thinking i should have painted the sponsons in components, and then assembled.. That was difficult reaching in to the nooks and crannies.. Atleast I know now if I do another LR.. But here, pictures for you guys.

Awesome man, there's something about a yellow land raider that just looks brilliant, especially the shade you manage with your army, very rarely seen a yellow so good.

Sir Samuel has it right, sorry I haven't been around was away on vacation. Very nice yellow, so much progress, well done! don't give up.

Update

And so I keep plugging away at the army. The land raider is nearing completion now, the yellow is finished, I've hit it with black accents and bone colored decorations. I also went ahead and did all the view ports and targeting lenses, as you will see in a moment or two here. I am thinking that my next step, highlight the black alittle, gloss coat, do a quick oil wash to line the panels just alittle more then they are already, matte coat, then regloss the lenses for that little extra pop. Other thing i need to figure are the assault launchers.. Stay yellow, or some other color to offset?

Sam and panda: Thanks you guys, its really a push to keep going to have you both commenting and urging me to continue. I have no intentions to stop here, I still have 15 tactical marines, 2 razorbacks and a storm talon to finish off and then? A profit hopefully.

Update

I finished it. The land raider is finished now. Well.. Almost.. I'm lacking the paint for the head lights, so they are still yellow.. But other then that! It's been gloss coated, pin washed, and matte coated. Anything else from here is if I come back to it later. Weathering? Not sure if ill be doing that yet or not.

update

Okay guys, lets get back on track while that little nurgling is taking a nap beside mommy. As I said last post, I've started work on Demi bravo. I've gotten three to the point where I have the final yellow layer left, and the other two, both currently sans bolters, are still needing their arms and legs colored in to match. Following the needed.. Uhh.. Yellowing.. Ill move on to the blacks, and metals, then from there the bone and cloth colors, then seals and eyes. All in all not too much more to do, but more then enough for the weekend.

I've actually been splitting my painting time with some of my personal projects when the shades of yellow all start to make my eyes bleed, a more simple color scheme that I'm starting on some eldar wraith guard, and a primarily brown/bone scheme being adopted onto my Dark Eldar. Having heard about the upcoming farsight supplement, and my love of the tau, who had been m first army, prior to the great Floridian summer garage incident of 2007.. They may find their way to my painting desk some time soon aswell.

I recently, so recent in fact it was only afew hours ago, pulled afew things from the trunk of my car that will help me with setting up some finished photography as I complete units from here on out. Besides the perfect grade gundam I pulled put, I have a fully painted up realm of battle tile, a hill section, as well as afew buildings to go along with it, expect them to be making appearances in the near future.

Update

So I've gotten some more work done and I've finished up Tactical Demi squad bravo. Now.. Granted, they are off of their bases while I finish them.. But you've seen my bases for the fists already nothing new there for you to see, not really. I am also tossing up another land raider picture for you guys.

Up next on the docket, the razorbacks. I've started building the first one, and I'm going to try going about it differently then I did the land raider. I'm going to paint the tracks separate from the body, hope that makes it go faster in process. The top is not attached yet as you should be able to see, I'm going to paint up the inside, better then i did before, since, I'll be aiming to leave the back hatch able to open, as well as the top hatch removable to allow it to switch back and forth to a rhino. Now I haven't glued the las cannons in place yet, as I'm not sure if I should do that, or try to magnetize to swap out for the bolters.. Which I have never done before. If I do glue them in, my second razorback, do I go las, or bolter on that one? ideas?

I'd say go bolters if you do glue, cheaper and deals with pesky troops.

Most of my Razorback turrets I leave unglued so I can swap them out easily. They hold together fairly well without needing magnets and I just use blue tac to keep the shroud over them in place.

The heavy bolters are good and cheap but if you need the ranged antitank firepower then you can't go wrong with the las though I've found around here when I slap las on a razorback it tends to draw more fire than my HB RBs and they tend to get squished fairly easily early game.

Update

Alright, so i dont have any pretty pictures to show you guys this evening. I've been working on getting the second razorback built up and ready for priming. I still haven't glued the weapons onto the mounts, i'll just go ahead and paint them up seperate from the rest of everything else. I had been meaning to prime them for the last few days, but it would be just my luck, the rain and humidity hasn't been cooperating with me. So in the mean time i have been improvising, and simply building. Next on my docket to build will be tactical squads Demi-Charly and Delta.

I like the land raider stratassj!! Nice clean yellow.

Its also the first time I've seen the Multi Melta placed on one of the rear hatches of a LR as well. I was looking at the image thinking something looks different here.

update
So I mannaged alittle more work on my fists. I took full advantage of a break in the humidity to get my razorbacks primed and ready. I did this in two steps. I primed the main hull, and the interior with white, then I went in with a black primer to hit the weapons, both sets of las and bolters, as well as the track links. When I am able to, ill be going back to what's black and airbrushing over a coat of gunmetal from Vallejo, then hitting the white with my base coat of averland. I'm glad it came out as well as it did, it even looks like it has some preshading in effect, which I totally meant to do... Yes that's right... Now for the interior,mi am torn between two different ideas. Either keeping it white for the ease of not having to do much with it, or painting it a desert yellow, to offset the bright yellow exterior.

Aside from the razorbacks, I know I said my next set were going to be the two Demi squads, charley and delta. Well.. I lied. It would seem that the tech marines were not ready to let the sargents bring their boys in just yet. My attention was instead directed towards my first bird, the StormTalon. So far the engine pods have not been glued, for ease of painting. Nor have I build the weapon nacelles. at the moment I'm leaning towards lascannons, as, all from the standpoint they may be more wanted when it comes to selling the finished product. Ifnyounguysmthink otherwise, please pipe up

Now. In my off time, when the sight of yellow starts to make my eyes bleed, and the little nurgling is fast asleep, other items of interest find their way to my desk.. Well.. Painting nightstand. be it afew units of dark eldar, or these craft world constructs that I've had recently. There is one thing I have left to work on with then, the gems. I'm thinking of blue, but, naturally, don't have any..

Oh nice eldar update. I do like a classic craft world paint scheme. The marines are doing well. Lascannons are a good choice, they are twinlinked.

Update

So i started work on getting my razorbacks base coated with my airbrush.. i got one of them done.. part of the second one and then.. And then.. My airbrush decided it was no longer employed by me. It quit mid spray. Finished, done.. do not pass go, do not collected two hundred dollars. So.. my painting has stalled out untill i can do something about that issue. I've sent an email to Paasche explaining what happened to see if they can do anything to help me with it. if not, then it looks like i will be back in the market for a new airbrush.. Not sure if i want to go with another Talon. Yes it was a good brush but i want to try something different perhapse? Try out one of the Badger Renegades, either the velocity or the krome.. I can still do some work in building, so i might go ahead and start work on the demi squads, i'll have to see what i can get away with. Oh well.. things were going too smoothly for my liking anyway.. figures right?

Great Yellow on these marines dude!
Love the shading technique with the Orange, also the black on the terminators shields is a really nice contrast.

Are you going to be using black for your tactical marines chest eagles and weapons?

Update

So.. im still stuck in neutral it seems. I got ahold of customer service from Paasche, their helpful advice.. Is everything in the brush lined up correctly? Uhh.. yeah.. im rather sure i am.. And with the age of the brush, i cant really hope for them to send me a replacement, as nice as that would have been. Im looking at the Badger Renegade as a new brush, really do like the Krome, so when i have enough avalable i may go ahead and pick one up, if somone doesn't grab one for me first, which my father seems to be looking at doing for me.. i dont want him to.. but dont look a gift airbrush in the nozzle, right?

I got the weapon pods for the Talon built up, Lascannon configuration, for both the utility in anti-flyer, and the other all looks.. i like the way it looks more then any other load out. But im back at the mercy of the floridian weather system.. high heat, high humidity does not make for decent priming weather.. hell its getting ready to rain right now, i can hear the thunder in the distance now infact. Still have Squads Charlie and Delta sitting away in their box.. just havent had the desire to break out the spru cutters and plastic glue.. i might have to do something about that tomorrow.

Success! And all without spending a dime myself. The mail was alittle late in coming this afternoon, but when it did finally show up, I had a package awaiting me, and what, your asking was inside of it? This beauty was waiting for me to free her..

That's right, the Badger Renegade Krome. brand new and just waiting to be put through her trial run. ofcourse before i can do that, I'm going to need to pick up a set of pipe cleaners, seem i can't find my old ones now. And additional to that, I have my old girl, the paasche talon taking abit of a beautie bath, maybe a week long soak in windex will help set her right.

ofcourse, talking about trial runs.. Ill be fixing the base coat of the two razorbacks, and maybe alittle extra interior work.

Update

So i've worked durring the week when ive had free time.. which.. thanks to getting sick, and my work site telling my boss they dont want me back... well.. i may possibly have a lot of free time sitting ahead of me.. I've finished off the two Razorbacks, Inter-changable Lascannons and Heavy Bolters, as well as the Rhino top hatch. The only bit of work i've neglected to do.. due to lack of paint, are the headlamps, which ive missed on the Landraider aswell, And then the emitter shroud over for the las cannons. Im not sure what i want to do with those.. yellow, or black.

I'm sure by now, you've all seen the basic confirmation that next up on the docket for 40k are the Marines. My goal now is to finish up everything by the end of the month, or just in time for the release. I love the new hunter, and its other variant, but those centurians? Not too sure if i like them or not. It seems like an interesting concept.. but isn't that was the Terminator armor was designed for? But, in order to get everything finished, i went ahead did squads Charlie and Delta, and primed, then basecoated them and the talon. I'll do the infantry first, and then finish up with the flyer.. need to get a new bottle of thinner for the paint first. Anyways, here's the progress ive made this week.

Looking good.
How much Fists do you got now?
I'm playing with the thought to start a 'vanilla' SM army besides my Blood Angels. Maybe Fists or Salamanders, or even Ultramarines, I like their color scheme
I will definitely buy two boxes of the new tactical box for my BA to complete my company (also 2 boxes of devastators and 1 dreadnought). But the birds are saying that the bugs will be the codex after SM so, maybe the vanilla project will be put on a hold. We will see.

10000pts of Blood Angels
3200pts of 30k Blood Angels
4000pts of Tyranids
3000pts of Eldar
1500pts of Grey Knights
4000pts of Seraphon
4000pts of Daughters of Khaine
2000pts of Skaven
3000pts of Disciples of Tzeentch
1000pts of Beasts of Chaos
