So let me ask this.
What about two 1000pt armies? Like a doubles game? I fond that smaller point games force you to pit more thought into your lists. A lot of give and take is required. The post a few up drove that thought home with me. "Not being able to take my slann priest." Higher point games really are just take a lot of the biggest and baddest things. And wrecking face that way. But that's my .02 cents
Thanks again for helping me with this.

I did play a 1000 point doubles tournament the other week. And I didn't take a Slann.
But that left me with no magic of note, in a magic heavy game. While I enjoyed the tournament, it was a considerably one sided stomp the whole time...

I like 1,000pt games in 40k, because it does, as you say, make you think hard about what to take. But it just doesn't work in Fantasy. 1,000pts in Fantasy is different from 1,000pts in 40k, because you don't need much in 40k to make it feel like a sci-fi skirmish game, while in Fantasy you need a lot (multiple units, dozens of models) to make it feel like a mass battles game.
Again, why would you try playing the mass battles game without mass? Mordheim or Hordes are there to provide small scale fantasy games. Or perhaps one of the historical rulesets, which are usually focused around stands rather than individual models, would suit your tastes better.

1000 in 40k is about 1500 in WHFB.

+1 to that. My 1000 tournament felt almost like a 500 point 40k tournament.

Depends on the army.
My brother has got the Skaven from IoB, plus another set of IoB clanrats and a box of Stormvermin to make his 1000pt intro army. I'm making a 1000pt Vampire Counts army to match it. He's got over 100 models, while I have over 60. I have a friend getting into it with the IoB High Elves, and all he eneds to do to bring it to 1000pts is buy 10 more Sea Guard and a couple of Bolt Throwers (using the old army book). My army is definitely going to look massive to his across the board, and my brother Skaven will put my undead to shame in numbers, and all armies are well above our normal 40k armies numbers.

The reason being is that those games are not played here at all. They sell war machine and hordes. Flames of war I never heard of mordheim. There is only really 40k here and some fantasy. I understand fantasy is a mass battle game, but why not make no effort to scale it down to skirmishes? Worse comes to worse I am debating whether if wargaming is worth trying to stay with. But we will see!

GW's skirmish game is LotR, not WHFB.

Yeah, it's pretty much dead. It has really awesome rules and is a very good Skirmish game, but it's barren

I realize you said you've never heard of it, but you might want to actually look up the rules for Mordheim if you want Warhammer Fantasy Skirmish, because that's what it is. It also has a massive community who make updates to the game after GW dropped support (look up Coreheim).

There is also the old Warbands rules floating around. Needs updating to work with the new books and edition though.
But really, if you insist on a skirmish sized game Fantasy isn't for you. its full name is Warhammer Fantasy Battles, not Warhammer Fantasy Skirmishes.

Battles is a general term, it does not imply a size of force by any means. I did check around for that mordihem game and all the shops here asked me if it was a board game. But well this seems like a lost cause, thanks for the help and input.
Thanks for your info it just seems that wargaming here Is mainly 40k but hey someday right. But again thanks and have fun.
