If you get the US Para Company box set, you will have everything you need to form a US Para company. Market Garden will also be the best book to get.

If you get the company box, the parachute mortars blister, and the recon jeeps you can build the 1750 list I posted above.

You can use the plastic Para platoon from Open Fire into a Airborne Engineers platoon to give your self some more options.

Alrighty......, so how much is the para mortars blister? and the jeeps? Or could i go for an all out infantry para army with some tanks and special wepons (like the bazookas, and other stuff that the airborne guys from the OPEN FIRE! set have)?

Look, you've obviously got the Internet in front of you, so go on E-bay and such and price it up. Almost all of the answers you seek are on google!

We are here to help, but we aren't here to be your minions .

However if you do need some direct guidance let us know, but we have pointed you in the direction, you have to do a bit of walking yourself.

Forged in Battle (Pretty much Interchangable with BF figures!).

http://www.wargamerscave.com/us.html

I would buy, from FiB ,

US Para-Platoon,
US Para-Mortar ,
US PAra- 0.30cal MG,

I would buy, from BF,

Parachute Company,
Mixed pack of Infantry Bases,

Use the Para-Platoon intersepersed with the BF Company, you'll get lots of poses and on top you'll get all the command elements for all the Support Platoons.

Massive Infantry Army, cheap as anything.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

No problems, but if you ever wonder "Whats in the Open Fire set" have a look on the BF Website.

Equally the TMP page is useful for Size and Figure comparisons. http://theminiaturespage.com/ use search function.

I did a quick back of a "Post-it-note" calculation. That force I detailed above, I reckon you can get it new for Sub - $100.

Infact consider it a challenge, how cheap can you get a Para Force together for.

Ok, thanks, but yeah, I would have to agree on the $105 range, and i did actually find out that a few people in my area do play FOW, so since i am just starting out etc, i was thinking that maybe I will just buy the Open Fire! set (for now) and if I do get more into it, i will go buy the jeeps, para company, and mortars, or whatever else i decide to buy. and yes, i have seen the contents of the Open Fire! set, but have sadly gotten to open my own box (my own brand new Open Fire! set), and stare in awe at the miniatures that were grandly crafted, but hopefully soon!

Ok, so no hells highway book, and Bf has no blister for a para HQ, but doesnt the para HQ come with the para company in the box? And yes, im going to have to make a very specific list once i get to the store again.

Yes if you buy the box set it will come with everything you need to make the required HQ and Combat platoons for a US Airborne Company.

For the US Airborne I would suggest building a list out of NUTS instead of Market Garden.

Just to be clear, a US Para Company would be two or Three (maybe more ) Platoons Commanded by a Captain.

The Company Box set will include the HQ, a Second Company Box set adds in further Platoons and you will have a Spare HQ.

If you are clever, you can use your spare HQ to create Platoon HQ's. For example buy some Forged in Battle Weapons Platoons...

Now these are nice and cheap and look great with your models.

Using the Spare Company HQ you can make Command Teams for these Platoons.

So for the Cost of 2 x Companies , 1 x FiB Para Mortars, 1 x FiB 30cal MG's. You get a massive 6 Platoons, Mortars and a HMG Platoon (You are Half-way to having a Battalion!!!!!) .....This is an extremely strong Core of infantry and will do you proud.

http://www.forgedinbattle.com/index.php?cPath=22_39_23

You can add AT Guns, armour, air and Artillery as you see fit.

Total Cost about £80 - $120 (although I am sure you could get it cheaper buying Plastic Open Fire Sets!!! And the US is usually much cheaper than UK).

Well, most Parachute Rifle Companies can only field 3-4 Rifle Platoons at most (and that takes a lot of points)

But with that much strong infantry and 2 weapon platoons, yeah, I'd have to agree you have a good start. Parachute Rifle are about the most elite American infantry you can get adna little can go a long way with the right support. You may need some Bazooka teams or a group of 57mm AT guns, just something to hit heavy armour (at best your Gammon Bombs will only Bail Top Armour 2, and that's if they roll a 1. Mind, there isn't much with Top 2 but it's still something to consider)

One alternative to getting the Company Box is getting the Open Fire Paratroopers off someone and then getting the Easy Company box (Parachute Rifle Warriors from Nuts!), it includes several Parachute HQ units. I'd get the Company box though if you can afford it, it's a great deal and packs a lot in a box.
