I've never understood why the rift on Terra would grow to galaxy-swallowing proportions when the rift created by the birth of a god has not. There is no decent explanation for it.

Therefore, I'm just not buying this "if the Emperor dies, Daemons swarm the galaxy" line, and so by default the winners are the fully restored C'tan (for a while, until they start killing one another again).

It's not just the rift on Terra that's supposed to grow, it's that without the Emperor's protection Chaos is able to freely spill out of all the humans. As humans are all over the galaxy things will get pretty sticky.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

The ideology that the Emperor alone keeps the Warp at bay is a dogma spread by the Imperial cult that everyone is encouraged to believe. It is only partly true however.

I do not think the death of the Emperor will signal a mass daemon incursion. The Emperor is only 50K years old and yet daemons existed for aeons before that. They were still in the Warp.

Chaos legions will invade if the Emperor dies whether or not he is immediately re-inacarnated (which is what I think happens and is what the Emperor intended). However that is just military opportunism, they will certainly however bring plenty of daemons with them.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

White Dwarf stated clearly that ALL C'tan were sharded and also provided recommended load outs for specific shards including that of the Void Dragon.

Sharded he t'was.

And frankly, I'm waiting for some Chaos Space Marine to turn on the chaos gods and start sharding and imprisoning them... Like Eliphas the Inheritor who has a history of backstabbing (who's to say he won't turn on the gods themselves?), Honsou who is a very "I am ME!" self reliant kind of guy whose raw hatefulness and desire to prove himself as better despite being labelled as a filthy halfbreed might drive him to try to outshine the gods (and probably has some warp-tech know-how to start imprisoning daemons), or the good old Sons of Malice who are already known to imprison and enslave daemons of other gods to Malal/Malice's bidding (No! I refuse to recognize any retcon! *sticks fingers in ears and shuts eyes while screaming loudly*).

I mean, we already have seen CSM turn against the Chaos Gods and deal them noticeably harsh blows like in the case of Daemon World by Ben Counter. Maybe just need to see some of them become a bit more creative.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

"And what if I told you the Wolves tried to bring a Legion to heel once before? What if that Legion sent Russ and his dogs running, too ashamed to write down their defeat in Imperial archives?" - ADB
