SL serpent are definitely the A-list unit.

How are you always within 42" of the Tau player? You are playing on a 48"x72" board right? You should always be able to deploy at 43" out. Remember side armour is the same as front for eldar.

I must be misunderstanding something, if the tau player deploy at the edge of his deployment zone he will be 36" from my board edge, there is no way i can stay out of reach from his missiles or markerlights.

Theres a lot of theory now (many thanks for all the help by the way!). I will try to get a game tomorrow, no idea what i will meet yet. Hopefully something from this thread will stick.

You don't have to deploy directly across from him, and those Missile Pods etc can only be at a single point on the deployment line. If he deploys centrally then you can deploy back in the corners, if he deploys off center then deploy diagonally across from him. If he deploys spread across the entire board then you can't completely avoid him but if you deploy on one flank (preferably the one with his weaker more mobile units on it) you force the rest of his army to walk a couple of turns to get to you. I haven't really played with my mech Eldar since 5th, but I used to squash entire 1850pt armies into the back 18" or so of a deployment corner.
