When the new Xbox comes out I will wait for the 360 / kinect combo prices to drop and get myself a nice new shiny console as back up to my old one... trouble is I bet the damn prices don't drop due to lack of interest in the new Xbox :-(

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

What would that console look like? What would you say were its key features?

For me the greatest console was the ps2. It allowed access to all the new stuff but still has the complete library of the previous system to work with as well.

Seriously, how many release titles really interest you. I only really saw 1 to 2 titles and that's it, but there's tons of titles I'm interested in that are coming out for the old systems.

Backward comparability is a rally good perk. I understand the reasoning why they didn't offer it this time around but I would love to see elite versions of the systems that offered BC for a little higher cost latter on. Especially now a days. We just replaced our tv and I was surprised how hard it was to find a flat screen with component cable ports. Everything's going hdmi so even if you have the old systems. How do you hook them up.

My ideal system would be a system that maximizes benefits to gamers and minimizes the restrictions if not removing them all together.

It looks like I'll be waiting to buy a Xbox One. That's a pretty hefty price tag, and I have no problem delaying my purchase until the cost comes down as it inevitably does. I can't blame them for gouging with the price, though. If people are going to line up to get ripped off I say let them. There's one born every minute, amirite?

Bring back cartridges!

I tried to explain cartridges to my kids. They didn't believe that you had to blow on them occasionally to get them to work.

I seriously don't get why you guys are perceiving this as a problem. The xbox+kinect is a single product for a single price. The fact that the kinect accounts for more than 50% of that price should not be surprising, it is where all of the interesting tech is.

Some of you seem to not realize exactly how inexpensive processors have gotten. There's a reason why both consoles switched to more generic X86 chips, it's because they're able to buy them for cheap.

All electronics have expensive components and cheap components.

Take smartphones for instance. What do you think accounts for the price? The processor, ram, storage, touchscreen sensor? All those parts you think of as important don't hold a candle to the power supply and screen.

It's not even remotely unusual for consumer electronics to have one really expensive component and a bunch of run of the mill components and I PROMISE you that the PS3 would be the same way if we got access to the component breakdown.

eh, I'm not interested in the kenect. If they release a cheaper system later on without one then I'll buy an xbox. If not then not, no big deal.

They will not.

More or less the Kinect is an integral part of the system. Not so much that you have to use it with every game, etc but it is so much that you get it bundled within.
The other part of it is that Microsoft has done this to ensure that the Kinect is included with every purchased Xbox One.
The biggest reason for this is to encourage developers to try to find new and interesting ways to work it into their games.

Ah but they can do that without requiring me to use it. Ill still have it stuffed in a box in case I see something I want to play.

They also said that about DRM and always online.

Consumer choice trumps restriction's everytime.

That really depends how far up their own ass a company is, and how deeply they're breathing in up there.

Do you know why most triple A titles now that have 'Kinect features' utilize them as gimmicks rather than implemented seamlessly?

The Kinect adoption rate is hideously low compared to the number of 360s out there. By bundling the Kinect with the actual console it encourages the developers to implement those features from the very start rather than as an afterthought.

I hardly think that will change seeing as the other plateforms don't make it required. Your assuming the Xbox one exists in a vacuum.

You also ignored my point. I'd be willing to accept their idea if I don't have to have the kenect plugged in to use the system.

So plug the dang thing in and then toss it in a conveniently hidden corner somewhere. Is it really that big of a deal?

With the recent revelations about the whole PRISM thing and such... yes, yes it is.

It's my understanding that it won't work that way. Microsoft themselve's dodged that exact question in one of the interviews I read. There's lots of question dodging when it comes to kenect and a lot of what Microsoft is up to. I've been an Xbox fan since the first one, but I'm not buying anything until things like the kenect are cleared up. And PR answers that doge the actual questions aren't cutting it.

I'm also not thrilled about the lack of respect showed to their customer's resently when we have valid complaints.
