Of course the downside is that you won't have that 3+ invuln, but that's the balancing aspect.

I actually tend to avoid the 3++ when getting the nova charge off. Most of the time my opponent just ignores it because it'll shrug off most of the fire anyways. It's too tough for volume of fire to be reliable and too good of a save to try firing anti-tank weapons at it.

I'd prefer to leave it with the 2+/5++ and let my opponents put some focus on it.

Find it funny that when it first came out everyone was like "Theres no point to not take the invul" now its "Why the hell would you take the invul?" lol

Guess people realized theres more to a tough model than a high invul save. Theres what, one gun in the entire game that causes instadeath as a rule rather than double tough? dont even know who has it if it does exist i just have a feeling there is one (JOTWW doesnt count thats a psyker). You arent getting through 5 wounds even with anti tank weapons that quick unless the riptide botches a bunch of novas.

I can understand balance-wise why its stock invul is a 5++, but i find it weird that EVERY other invul in the entire army is 4++ but not on the biggest most advanced piece of equipment in the army lol

Probably used the same sized shield generator for a much bigger suit.

Now that the new Distort rule is out for wraithguard weapons, I think I would use it against Eldar. Against most armies, I would probably just take my luck with getting 4D6 thrust move and landind in cover. It's a great option if you end up getting stuck in combat or just face the risk of it, but it's situational. It's just something nice to have available for free.

Dont forget hes an MC so he has no tests for landing/starting in terrain with jetpack moves. Love it when people try to point out i landed in a crater and i just go "Nope, MC say feth that"

I purposely abuse that as much as possible. It's also the reason why I roll for the Strategic warlord traits. A chance to ensure all my jetpacks will never take a dangerous terrain check in ruins and letting me land on just about anything. I'm going to take an all suit Farsight list and hope to get that every time.

Dude my first game running straight tau instead of Torks i got that warlord trait and it was glorious because i actually didnt even have a riptide i had 9 crisis suits and 2 commanders (one with marker drones other with a crisis team). There was one piece of terrain that was not ruins, so i just freely ran all over the place lol.

Why would you do that with a farsight list though? You wouldnt get the no scatter which is the point of that blob. Too espensive to just say its extra suits.

I'm really a huge fan of the all crisis suit missile blizzard approach to problem solving.

Yeah, the Wraithknight is kind of a great MC hunter with those two long range Distort Canons. But with only two shots, it's still not likely to roll Instant Death. Illic Nightspear also has a sniper rifle with Distort. I'm seriously considering taking him now just on the off chance he can one shot a Riptide or Wraithknight. Those guys really ARE too good, the Riptide especially.

But that seems to be the edition we're living in. I'm terrified for what the next few codices will bring if this trend continues...
