Awesome, I like the layout very easy to read and understand I am also currently working on a sci-fi skirmish game and a Steampunk fantasy game, so I find it helpful to get an understanding into what my layout (or draft layout to get the rules across to my audience) so thanks for posting up

As I mentioned earlier, once things are good and solid with the main rules set, we'll look into making a more concrete set of rules. Though, to be honest, I'm not sure how much deeper they'll go beyond the above guidelines.
This post was (almost) exactly what I'm looking for. These are all the guidelines you really need to make a ship. I'd recommend adding a section to the rules that outlines these in a clear fashion, stressing that custom designed ships will need to be tweaked and that trying to build the strongest ship possible is missing the point in a scenario driven game with less model removal/ship destruction going on.
Could you please share the guideline charts and lists you mentioned in your post? I can look at existing ships and reverse engineer them, but if you have them in a file somewhere and are willing to save me the work, I'd definitely appreciate it.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

We didn't build them for public consumption, so there's a bit of shorthand and abbreviations that probably won't be intuitive. That said, I've got no problems sharing them - feel free to ask questions about anything that isn't understandable. I haven't yet tried using Google Drive to publish to the web - try these links and let me know if they work:

Thanks! I didn't see anything that wasn't understandable after a bit of thinking about it. Combined with the previous post, I made a little ship building guideline document.

Very cool, I'm glad they worked for you.
I've got part 3 - the ships and part 4 - the scenario up. We play it on Sunday and I'll probably be revising it then.
