Even if the sponsons are "stuck" firing at the same thing as the vanquisher cannon, look at what it's shooting at.

TEq? Plasma's fine against that. MCs? Plasma's fine against that. AV10? Plasma's fine. AV11? Yup. AV12? Still okay. Really, let's go through the list of things that the vanquisher cannon can all that seriously hurt that the plasma cannon's can't.

... Well, there's the land raider... and the battlewagon, unless you're shooting into side armor... And... other russes... and that's sort of it. For everything else, the plasma cannon pairs just fine with the main gun.

Plus, what happens when your opponent doesn't bring vehicles? Do you want that vanquisher to be little more than a paperweight? What happens if they bring only lighter vehicles, like, well, every army can bring? In this case, you're talking about adding versatility to a tank in a way that also allows the main tank to handle what it usually shoots at better. That's a good thing.

Your chances of penning and killing an AV12 vehicle with two plasma sponsons is ~5%, AV 11 is 11% funny enough. This brings me back to my point, it will be an odd game in which you can't find some sort of armor for the vanquisher to shoot at, the exception being nids of course. So it might benefit you to take plasma elsewhere.

Seeing as the op doesnt have chimeras to get his plasma vets around then his trroops are going to die lie crazy so it only seems reasonable to take a heavy hitting tank thats a bigger threat so the scoring troops have a better chance of living.

This is a very good argument for OP, however.

The best be I see for running vets would be for the op to put 2 plasma vet squads in the vendettas for now until he can get 2-3 chimeras.

You've got about a 1 in 3 chance of penning an AV12 vehicle with a pair of plasma cannons (assuming it's a full-size vehicle, rather than a walker or buggy, or whatever), which isn't THAT much better than the vanquisher cannon itself (.333 vs. .415).

Plus, just because your opponent brings vehicles doesn't mean that they're always the best target either, especially if paladins or dreadknights (or whatever) are getting in your face.

Well, from the perspective of one with few models, that's a nice collection you've got there. Your motor pool looks like something people normally use in games, too.

The one thing is that you'd need commissars if you're ever going to use all those infantry at once. Probably 3 or 4 would be enough for 120 guardsmen, bonus points for one being Lord Commissar.

Thank you! Commisars are up there, also, considering some ordinance batteries.
