You said that it is "legalized". It was never illegal to begin with. You then said it lands without scatter (farsight's warlord trait) and then you assault jump 3D6 (SSun's warlord trait). You can only have one warlord trait active.

Perhaps what was in your head did not match your typing. Happens to me all the time.

Anyway, everyone pretty much answered the question. Deathstar is a massive unit (points wise) that usually has strong shooting and strong characters as well as some gimick to keep it alive (or to have it outflank or other shenanigans).

As far as i know, most armies do not utilize the deathstar idea. This is because you're sinking a lot of points into a unit, and that's always a risk. Both to your dakka out put and incoming dakka on that unit. (ignore cover, etc)

This is what I was saying. my friend misread the supplement, thinking Farsights WL trait became an 'it just happens', which is what I was saying.

My mistake...

A real cheap death star is corbulo and 5 th/ss termis. Maybe supported with tycho. 330/505pts. Corbulo has a 3+ with a further 2+ for fnp. Anything st8 or above you give to the termis who also have a 2+/3++. Then you have the combined might of a rending st 6 corbulo 5 st10 termis and a st5 ignore all armour but strike at initiative tycho (these st values are on the charge).

How do you intend to "give" the hits to a specific model? I thought in 6th allocation is determined by location for shooting. And in close combat the inflicting model(s) may allocate to any model in base contact.

Characters (both IC and C) and snipers get to allocate their shooting wounds to a model in the unit on a To-Hit roll of 6.
It is the Precision Shot (?) rule.
Barrage gets similar, as shots are resolved from the template's hole, so a non-deviating barrage shot lets you pick the target model you want dead.
If you can take out one of the supporting models, the Death Star starts to fall apart.

I'm very curious about this Screamerstar. Does it deep strike? What does it have for defense? And offense?.
Screamerstars are very, very nasty.

They will win quite a few games. Barring really bad luck or really bad play they can be nearly unstoppable.

However, you generally not going to see them win a GT. This is because in one out of every 9 games, your not going to get a 2++ rerollable with your scremaers. Then the list completely falls apart.
