Tough Tyrant Guard






I think that you can shave quite a few points from your new list which could give you the potential for a second team of genestealers (this is suppose to be a broodlord heavy list)
if you have less infiltrators then the Swarmlord would be better as a flyrant instead.

I prefer the trygon over the carny since he is much tougher and ends up being cheaper, sure they dont shoot as much but they are much stronger in close combat and very scary so the psychological effect of them coming into your line is pretty nasty.

list could look like this
HQ
Flyrant w/dual BL devourers=260
Swarmlord with guard = 340

Elite
Doom of malantai in spod = 130

Troops
5 genestealers with Broodlord
Scything talons on BL=132
4 genestealers with Broodlord
Scything talons on BL=118
10 Termagants=50
10 Termagants=50
Tervigon
Catalyst , cluster spines, toxin sacs=185
Tervigon
Catalyst, cluster spines, toxins sacs=185

Heavy support
Trygon=200
Trygon=200

Total 1850

only 2 powers on tervigons keep Catalyst for the FnP and less dice roling to figure out powers for speedier gameplay.
took out the TS on genestealer since those are wasted on meatshields. (yes I know it helps get more rending hits but not if they dont reach CC)

maybe a flyrant with hive comander could be good too instead of Swarmy but I felt you wanted the Lord of Swarms in your list

I like your suggestions. I just might end up using your suggested list! The difficult thing for me will be losing the Dakkafexen. When I added them I was thinking about AA capability, which Trygons can't do at all. If I wanted to add dakkafexen in place of the Trygons, what would you suggest for changes? It definitely makes the points tighter to have to "find" an additional 60 points without sacrificing too much...

I dont really trust the dakkafex as AA, I feel it a very expensive way to get an average of 3 str6 hit on a flyer which could easily have 12AV making it mostly useless, I guess the fact they deepstrike allows you a potential at a rear shot which could be ok... for the points the only thing to shave of is to change the swarmlord into a flyrant with HC which would give you 55pts, then maybe a TS to take out from a tervigon or something, but then you have 2 flyrants which is decent AA on its own, maybe just use those 55 points for CClaws on Tervigon or something.

Ok now you've convinced me of the value of the genestealers infiltrating on the board a bit forward (moving throught cover) and then going to ground, only flamers and weapons that ignore cover would do well against this tactic, it requires good positioning to make sure that they arent in synapse when they get shot at and that next turn I can get a synaptic beast to get them off the floor but this basicly solves their vulnerabilty to bolter fire.

if I was going for 1850 I would just take out the hive guards but I prefer the 1999+1pts games

Wow. Great list. I just might think I'll have to give it a shot. Tons of flexibility, lots of psyker support, not super susceptible to JotWW, and EVERYTHING is scary and needs to be dealt with. People who say that genestealers don't scare them will make the mistake of letting them through and pay for it.

You could always walk the Tervigon behind the Trygon's too to run clean up crew. That way you can hit one of them with FnP and let 2 of the zoans run Primaris on Telekinesis and have 1 buffing zoan.

Id rather take 2 mawlocs than 2 fexs, at least they are guaranteed to come in turn 2 and they cost less points. You should actually have enough pts for something juicy or fo add more bodies to the gs squads.
