OT, this "boys with toys" approach for every organization is extremely dangerous, not just to government employees but to citizens as well. What if one of the miners was holding a "weapon" and was shot? What if a miner "resisted arrest" and was razed or pepper sprayed? What if the miners assume its a trick and opened fire on the EPA team because they thought they needed to protect themselves?

Just like that deer raid a while ago (Wisconsin I think? I remember posting in it) the governments first instinct shouldn't be to kick the door down and storm the place. In the deer raid article, it could have been accomplished with a couple of agents politely knocking on the door and explaining the situation. Here, I can't imagine anything besides a couple of EPA employees with the right paperwork was necessary. What on earth triggered this crackdown? Do miners have a history of shooting at EPA officials recently or something?

A lot of people could have been hurt just because some EPA officer wanted to wave his ego around. What's even more infuriating is that this is the EPA. We should be able to trust this organization with protecting our environment and keeping it safe. We shouldn't have to be opening a review to see if the power has gone to their heads
