I knew that about Iron Arm. Dumb mistake.

For whatever reason, I thought T.Guard could only join with tyrants... So that makes things much more clear. Tried it out last night, and the Swarmstar worked to hilarity. Swarmy had IA, and Warp Speed, and the nearby Zoan had Endurance. At one point I had +3S,T,I,A, and with regen on the Prime, I managed to absorb over 12 wounds (good regen rolls). It single handedly controlled the board.

So basically, you went for dragon points? Also, it sounds like your experience pretty much sum'd up the expected results. Fun fact, most people expect people to field 2 Flyrants. They are woefully unprepared when the ultimate beatstick comes to the party.

Oh, Sir... Dragon points were achieved.

He said he wasn't scared of the 3 models because they were foot slogging and wouldn't be quick enough to do anything when he peppered them with AC, Las, etc... After Turn 2 when they had shrugged off 10+ wounds from armor, LoS, FNP, and regen, I had him boxed in with the pod squads. He HAD to face them. That's when he tried charging with everything he had nearby (Dread, DPrince, warp talon raptors), and after a full turn (2 CC rounds), the Swarmstar was free to chase down something else. He was so excited about getting to re-roll his failed invuls as a Tzeench DP... then I made him reroll everything. I lol'd when it died in a single CC.

Because feth the shooting phase.

You know, just because we are Tyranids, and we can, lets just go for broke and list every buff we can throw on this thing to make in unstoppable. I mean, lets face it; there are only 2 forms of in the Tyranid Codex, the first being the ability to bring 10 Tervigons at 2000pts. The second being the Swarmstar. Lets stop with the increasingly insane point name system here, and lets just go for full on maximum .

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Ok... but only if we get to call it "Bahamut Points" or "Galactus Points"

So we have IA, WS, TKD, End, hell, why not give it teleport and laugh when you deep strike into the fray immediately? Then there's the Prime regen, any way to give him shred for TL CC to hit and to wound?

You can't mix and match rulebook and codex powers. It's all or nothing.

And yes, you can join the Prime to the Swarmy and his pet flunky. This has been a thing for quite a while

I know, I meant take rule book unless you feel you need warp lance, then take that.
