I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. You seem to be as dead set on the idea that Vindi's blow as I am on the idea that they are awesome, and none of my overwhelmingly positive experience with them in all kinds of situations and against all kinds of opponents is going to do much to sway you.
Unless you are doing Vindicators wrong you are shooting from turn 1, keeping cover saves, presenting solid armor/threat saturation, and not just letting things run up to
CC your tanks. They are more than capable of handling anything that isn't a multi-wound
MC or Flyer, and it is all too easy to bring other units to cover that weakness. Maybe my opponents really are skill-less noobs (though I think it is far more likely that the idea of perfect max coherency in all situations is a bit of an internet fantasy), but I find ample opportunities to put pie plates over large numbers of units and even multiple vehicles. And I would never trade in the pleasure of seeing the despair in peoples faces when they see two Vindicators set on the table, and seeing every move they make accompanied by a hesitant glance at my Vindicators.
Your argument revolves around taking the Pred/
Devs for Lascannons and using a
TFC to bring volume of fire if needed. A fine specialized unit/gunline strategy and I have no doubts that your playstyle works just fine for you. I can assure you, however, that my mid range, punch-you-in-the-face-with-Marines playstyle and my list built around two Vindicators gets the same job done.
