Hi all,

The next member of Veteran Sargent Bravos squad is complete. Nothing special about him except some larger than average shoulder pads.

Working on the second Engineer / Demolition Expert. One plasma gunner and one autocannon team are waiting for paint. When those are finished Veteran Squad Bravos will be complete.

Thanks and take care

Hi all,

Engineer One is complete. Tried a few different colors. Used Reaper Master Series Translucent blue mixed with translucent white on his visor/blast mask. Also experimented with dark blue for armor pieces. It's a bit meh, but good enough for now. The shovel is layers of silver/gunmetal and black washes.

Hi all,

A quick update.

I have a Stormraven which I use in another army but the paint scheme is close enough to use for the Inquisitor Worden and the Knights of the Flaming Cheddar. The only problem is the current base doesn't match so I made a new one.

I experimented with Secret Weapon Miniatures Realistic water. The product is easy to use (applied two layers). I wanted to get a slimy, yellowish, gross looking puddle of something. It's not quite what I had in mind but overall I like the results.

Hi all,

Finished up a second plasma gunner for Veteran Squad Bravos.

Back Left - I noticed a couple of spots of gray on the orange section of the shoulder pad. It has been corrected.

It's an all plastic model, but I placed a bit to forward and it was tipping over. A small washer glued to the bottom resolved that.

Next up is a heavy weapons team.

Thanks and take care

Hi all,

The heavy weapons team is complete and so is Veteran Squad Bravos!

I used an autocannon, but it isn't attached so at some point a lascannon option will be created.

Photos of the entire squad.

Next up will be finishing the jungle themed veteran guardsmen (from earlier in the thread).

Thanks and take care

Hi all,

Long time, no update.

Jungle veterans are finished!

Veteran with Grenade Launcher

My original plan of using a Primaris Psyker as an HQ wnt away with the release of Astra Militarum. So I put together a new Company Command Squad. Part of this change involved changing the name of the Primaris Psyker from Reisman to Armbruster (thematically this fits much better).

I went with a couple of grenade launchers for special weapons. Mainly because it meant I didn't have to but some new models.

It's now at a good time to move onto another project. I think it's time to revisit the Space Rangers

Thank you and take care.

HI all,

Just putting the final touches on the army before Mechanicon 2014. I wanted to try a Tempestus platoon so I used some old Warzone models which I have had for many years.

I kept it fairly simple. One command squad with four hot-shot volley guns. One Scion with two plasma guns and one Scion with meltaguns.

Without further delay I present the 95th Zurtron Rangers

Tempestus Platoon

Command Squad

Prime

Scion Circle (Shoulder pad insignia)

Plasma Guns

Scion Square

Meltaguns

Only a couple of more touch-ups to go and the army will be complete.

Thanks and take care

Man, I really love this army. I remember commenting on this thread forever ago! Glad to see it's coming along still. Those are probably the best paint jobs I've ever seen on those old Warzone minis! Those Catachans you posted are cool too, but that first squad with all the unique conversions - those guys have too much character to just be chumps in a veteran squad! I hope you get to use them in some sort of skirmish games.

Thanks, Brother SRM. It took quite a while to paint all of them because I experimented with wet-blending and using glazes.

I put a few WIP photos of the Zurtron Rangers in the old Buzz Lightyear Goes Grimdark P&M thread - for those interested it can be found here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/353140.page

The biggest obstacle was painting all that white power armor. So i used these guys to test a few methods, techniques, etc. I finally found a method that I like and can do fairly quickly. It involves pre-shading and covering the entire model with a wash made of VW Pale Grey, Black wash, and water (3:1:3). I have a greater plague demon and seven terminators to finish before going back to the Space Rangers.

Work the display board, display army list, and touch-ups on a couple of models are almost complete. Photos will be posted once they are ready.

Thanks and take care

Hi all!

I finally got around to editing photos of the finished army

The following photos were taken while the army was on the display board I used for the MechaniCon GT 2014. It was a Grey Knight army with Imperial Guard allies and a Malleus Inquisitor detachment. It was themed on an Inquisitor and his inducted guard bringing in some demon hunters.

Gah! I took several photos and this was the best.

It was a fun event and I recommend it for anyone looking for a fun weekend.

There were many nice table top quality armies, but relatively few which would be considered more than middle table top. I thought I had a chance at best appearance when they announced Ted Nagel as 2nd, but someone else took home the best appearance award.

So this project is in the books and it is time to start working on the follow up to the Sons of Pus.

Thanks and take care
