Do you think the Tyranids will see any fluff changes in the 6th edition codex?  [RSS] Share on facebook Share on Twitter Submit to Reddit

probably not in this codex, but the nid storyline has basically gone cold so sooner or later they will need to have them mount a full blown invasion. I think you are probably going to see cadia fall and then to prevent insta choas win the nids attack through that area.

I just wish the codex and fluff could somehow be written from the perspective of the nids. It sounds weird but I can envision it like the dialogue between kerrigan and her queens in SC2. Or the cerabrates or whatever there name was from SC1. I'm sure a good writter can be found that can make it sound good.

Whatever changes may come I just really hope they remain the neutral threat to all. Keep their lack of allies and make up for it somehow. I wouldn't mind if they brought back the broodlord as an HQ. Man those things were scary to face but fun

The Allies thing always struck me as a little odd as in most 40K games on the table top people come up with their own reasoning for allies and for decades its been a case of just letting people go with whatever they want.

Formalising it just seems messy in 40K since the allied lines are drawn purely from fluff and not part of the actual balance nor rules of the game itself; so there is no provision against preventing broken allied groups (which in casual allied matches wouldn't normally be a problem as its casual/optional play rather than formal).
Tyranids are the prime example and honestly Necrons should have been as well until their recent codex where they shifted from the almost mindless robots of death to something with more humanistic personality.

Allies chart was for selling models, principally, and reducing the suffering of old codex armies, secondarily.

I think, and hope, that we will see a continuation of the introduced weaknesses of the previous codex for the nids, the hyperactive metabolism and inability to fight protracted wars for the newly awakened hive fleets. Basically if something can hold them back and deny them sufficient nutrition, the tyranids, weakened from the hybernation of space travel, begin to burn up their energies, heightened by their desperation to evolve better killing forms, and suffer a 'colony collapse'.

This, along with the 'individualism' of the rewritten necrons was entirely intentional, btw, by the design team, because it was deemed that both had come to overshadow the 'big bad' of Chaos, and Chaos is supposed to have the center stage as the greatest of all threats and has been since the creation of the games.
