Really liking these models. The bases are well done.

Thanks Sageheart glad you like it.

In the meantime, those Mordian I was batch painting, yeah I was about 75% finished with those guys. There was something wrong with them but I figured I was just being paranoid. As I finished the skin on the first guy it hit me. I forgot 2 colors on the jackets. &@$#%. Anyway, I had to simple green them. What a pain. That gives me a chance to work on the lascannon and the Tech priest and his servitors. Also trying a new color on the poor, often stripped Leman Russ.

Hey what about a splash of contrasting color on the tank? Sort of like the front of this one;

Also, I recommend red for the lasguns. It will make the models POP even more.

Regardless, everything looks good sir.

Personally I feel pop is more for Space Marines. For the tank would something like the traditional guard colour schemes in the 2nd Ed codex be worth a look?

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Well gents, I think I have gone the opposite of everyone's good advice. I'll try to have the first Russ posted tomorrow. In the meantime I am very disappointed with myself. I was all excited to paint these guys since I don't think I have ever done mechanicum. Well, I got bored half way through so they aren't that good.

Thanks Ghostmaker, I'll be in pretty soon to stock up. In the meantime, the first Leman Russ. The scheme is dull and boring but I think looks good with the infantry. There will be company and army markings added. I just haven't decided what or where.

The turret and the hull contrasting is kind of off-putting. Also, they're both pretty flat, the color has no depth. No shadows, no rust, no details.
Even just some simple drybrushing or a single wash along the hard edges would add a whole lot.

Thanks Insane Smile.

Nowlan, your comment makes me sad. Because you are right. I have been applying markers and stuff but all that brown needs to be broken up. I'm not sure why tanks are giving me such a problem on this one. Thanks for the input.

Thanks Nowland, I'll check them out. In the meantime, I finished one of the lascannon teams. I had planned to build fortifications but the bases weren't big enough.

This is really frustrating. I can't get anything to work right. He'll, maybe I am a little burned out. This army may be going the way of the Dark Angels.

Yeah, so I did it. These boys are taking a nice long Simple Green bath and will hopefully find a better home out there. I guess I didn't think this out very well. That will teach me to buy stuff and figure out the details later. Anyway, thanks to everyone who posted and stopped by to take a look.

Sorry for disenting, but I'd hardly call those a failure. Granted some things could have been done different, but I'd say you have achieved a great overall look, specially on the HW crew.

Worth another chance before final dismissal IMHO; of course, yours is the final word on the matter.

I must own these, how much for the models? I plan to change nothing and make them exactly like that color scheme. What I'm a Bad Moon, yellow be dah richest! Really I just want the Mordians because the tanks will come later and I don't have that much extra cash right now.

My Cadian army and all of its tanks were eaten by a doggie, so this time they will go down with a much stiffer fight.

Man, I really appreciate the comments guys. Here's the thing. I wanted to try and make this army better than the ones I've done before. Try new colors, techniques, things like that. I realized I was doing everything the way I always had. Even obsessing over bases for some reason. The army really didn't look any better or different than any other. So I have to try again. I'm afraid I have already stripped them, they are on eBay. If they sell, they sell. If not, I'll try again.

I'm fairly impressed about the number of times I read people able to abandon a project and start over.

I don't think I'd touch 40K again if I fell completely out of love with my Tall Scale project. It's the sole thing that keeps my other side projects like my IGuard going.
