Musashi here, long time wargamer, super Infinity nube. Just had a question about the Anaconda TAG. I just bought the model because it's awesome looking. However, going over its stat line, it only has 2 STR? I understand that it is an older design, but what is the best way to use this TAG? Seems fragile with limited offensive capability. Should I avoid using it? (I probably will still use it anyway because it's my favorite mini ever). Just wondering what some vets thoughts are about using the Anaconda.

Well it is primarily meant to be used in the French Sectorial in Ariadna and it is the most "advanced" piece of equipment they have access to.

With an Arm of 6 treat him like a heavier Heavy Infantry, Str is essentially a mechanical units Wounds stat, and the biggest TAGS in the game only have 3 STR. Arm (Armor) is what you want to compare with its load out to develop a play style.

But like I said with Arm 6 and Spitfire and Panzers play him like Heavy Infantry and try to avoid getting gunned down.

AFAIK all TAGs with well-armed operators that eject after they get too heavily damaged only have STR2 on the TAG chassis
The Iguana is the same, but it's true that the operator is then a HI with 2W, so a bit tougher

Did not notice that. Since the Anaconda has an ejection system, does that come into play a lot? Or is is something cool that happens every once in awhile?

The anacondas pilot is not like the Iguana who ejects.

The Anaconda will just be a run of the mill LI with a combi rifle. it uses the escape system rule.

The Iquana ejects out an HI armed with an HMG. The Iguana uses an rule called Ejection System.

Also the majority of TAGs are STR 3.

Link to the Escape System rule used by the Anaconda.

And here is the Ejection System rule for the Iguana.

The rules are kinda similar, but the process is different and I wouldn't count on the Anaconda pilot for much besides an order while she lives.

Never underestimate a Spitfire. Those things are deadly!

Advice is the same as for all TAGs: Have an engineer in a second order group if you can, and patch the hull back up as soon as you start taking hits. It's worth using the orders if they come from the second group. While it eats a few orders a turn, the attrition against your opponent's forces will be more damaging.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Erm... I might exclude the Anaconda from such advice.

Unlike with many TAGs, where you can theoretically afford to bin the engineer roll and then try again (albeit from a now more damaged TAG), the nature of the Anaconda and Iguana as STR 2 TAGs which are automatically replaced with their operator at STR 0 means that any bad repair roll is kaput for your TAG; You do not get a second chance.

Sure, there are times the gamble might pay off, but I'd point out that the 35% chance that a repair roll bins the TAG is actually more risky than going and picking a fight with an Autocannon Tankhunter...

Hmmm. Okay, you're right, good point.- for Ariadna that is.

I gave that advice from my own Nomad/Yu Jing perspective, where I generally have a boosted SpecOp engineer or a Clockmaker (15 WIP, so 25% chance of failure). Also I prefer to be the architect of my own kablooey rather than failing a face-to-face roll in a crucial moment.

But given the WIP on an Ariadna engineer you're right, no engineering is a better idea. Statement retracted!
