I'm pretty sure there are still some high end predators on Fenris. What about killer fish? Krackens flourish in the seas of Fenris.

I imagine there are plenty of animals. that said given it's nature as a hive world we can assume a good many Earth species are now extinct

Well if you where to read the various Dark heresy creature manuals you would find that, animals are indeed still around. And they even see to help keep the human count down at times

Nope, animals are completely gone. Wiped out. Long extinct. The horses, wolves, and beasts of burden you see now are simply clever representations of what animals used to look like, made out of papier-mâché, plasticard, spare bits of office stationary, and liberal applications of PVA glue and marker pen.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation |

I mean that I don't think your question in the original post was a genuine query if you mean "are there any non-sapient animals in the 40k universe", because that is just a ludicrous question. So, specify.
