The codex says "friendly" templates scatter one D6 less, makes no specific mention of Grey Knight templates. I don't recall an FAQ specifying they only work with GK units either.
The problem is that NO army is 'friendly' with Grey Knights, since they have no battle brothers. All their allies (save for Inquisition, now) are Allies of Convenience or worse.
The only exception to this is in codex: Inquisitor. If you take an Inquisitor force, GK and SoB are battlebrothers with all imperial forces if memory serves me (correct me if I am wrong).

Ah, I stand corrected. Forgot that allies of convenience meant you aren't really "friendly". Frenemies, maybe?

This is a little off. The Inquisition detachment itself is Battle brother with all imperials. But the only way for GK to have battle brother is to bring an inquisitor (C: GK of C:IQ) and then bring the forgeworld Red Hunter space marines as allies (or primary with G allies). This works for Sisters as well, although I believe they are Battle brothers with IG.

Yeah. But the codex inquisition inquisitor can place servo skulls that are friendly for all imperial forces, right?
