I saw it last night and I thought it was a winner. Why? Let me tell you. First of all, Emily Blunt is in it, and she's even drop-dead sexy in military gear. And then, you get to see Bill Paxton chewing the scenery as a demented drill Sergent. On the whole, the movie is basically Starship Troopers meets Groundhog Day meets Pac-Man, but it has such interesting concepts and killer action that it all comes together. I'm just wondering why they call the aliens mimics. What exactly are they supposed to be mimicking?

I never did repost in this thread once I saw it, I realize.

This was probably the best movie I've seen this summer so far, and Emily Blunt stole the show in almost every scene she was in. I am quite excited about her possibly becoming one of the first big-franchise female action stars to actually carry a tentpole in future summer blockbusters, perhaps.

It was also unexpectedly funny, a lot of black humor. It did fall down a bit in the very last minutes of the third act... but the rest of the movie still made it a great ride overall. If you can get past Tom Cruise, and I know some people can't, you'd probably really like this movie.

My wife and I thought it was a great movie. I usually don't like Cruise, but I have liked him in Edge of Tomorrow and Oblivion.

And yes, Emily Blunt is very hot in power armor and a sword.

I thought while the Normandy Beach Landing was a strange waste of manpower, it was visually impressive.

So...having dinner and movie plans with a girl who loves action movies...should I take her to see this?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Time traveling, power armored, alien smiting, Tom Cruise yelling, Emily Blunt being in-ing, action flick?

I'd say on the off chance, MAYBE.

Thought I posted already but saw it opening weekend and really enjoyed it. The Fault In Our Stars beating it out really bums me out.
