To be fair no one thoughts Texas was very good this year.....
I do agree, however, most of the people I work with (here in the army) are either Tide band wagon jumpers, OR many are Texas fans. And while most of the Texas fans admitted they were having a "down year" they basically said outright that they were better than any West Coast team.
I just wish that people would realize that West Coast teams actually do have stiff competition, and if they are playing on a national stage such as a bowl game, generally its for a good reason (just heard about Stanford losing to Mich. St.... )

I mean, their two interceptions were BAD, but those non calls were still, IMO, inexcusable.
It suck to play against a star QB, and historically good football team, when your own team is traditionally bad.

I'm a South Carolina grad and fan so I was thrilled to see Connor Shaw excel in that game. We'll miss him next year. He was the difference maker in most of our games this season. As for Iowa-LSU, the Hawkeyes defense looked good and LSU is a Jekyll and Hyde team. Somehow the Mad Hatter pulls out victories but his team always looks puzzled on the field.

Football is a religion in Texas. I lived there for nine years and two in Oklahoma, which is similar. However, I picked the Ducks to win that game because UT just isn't a top tier team anymore. We'll see if a new coach makes a difference but I don't expect anything to change. UT has a great location (Austin), fantastic money, lots of fans, and good facilities but Texas needs better coordinators as well as a coach. Also I think kids will prefer to play for Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M or Art Briles at Baylor until UT's situation has settled down.

I guess JB was right. UCF is the real deal.
I saw South Carolina get man-handled by UCF and come out with a very narrow victory over the Knights. That's when I knew UCF was real. Take a look a their other games and you can see that Baylor was headed into an ambush. The Bears problem is defense. They can cover that flaw against most Big 12 teams by simply outscoring them but you cannot do that against the UCF defense.
Thanks to Michigan State and UCF I am now 19-10 in my bowl picks. Unfortunately Georgia failed against Nebraska. I expected the Bulldogs running game to do more in spite of their rookie QB.

I kinda expect Texas to make another Mack Brown type hiring... Their track record is to try and get that coach who will become an icon and institution at the school. Similar to how the Pittsburgh Steelers do with their head coaches as well.

The Orange bowl was very entertaining. Still shocked at the Alabama game! Johnny Football played his ass off to win that game for A&M. I don't like his personality and off-field drama, but he's a good player. I don't think I want him for the Texans #1 pick, though. Not at all.

Alabama screwed up my bowl picks. I am at 21-11 now. There is no question in my mind that Oklahoma deserved that win and Bob Stoops likely extended his stay at Oklahoma for several more years with that victory.
I was happy to see Mizzou and Clemson win. Now I want Vandy to win tonight. Smart schools need football victories too.
