Funny how they advertise Demons as being great for people who want to play both 40K and FB.
But the rules clearly state otherwise. Thanks GW, you forgot to mention that you had to buy TWO Demon armies!
That's really harsh dude. Hopefully you'll be able to still play both with your pals.

Honestly people. It has already been stated multiple times in this thread that the 25 mm round bases work PERFECTLY for use in both fantasy and 40K. Put the guys on round bases and you will never have problems.
Even if you put them on the square bases I have never seen a single TO who would not allow it. I have also seen a significant number of the GTs (check out the photo's of the armies) that allow it.
The funniest part is the rules for bases just say use the base provided with the model...how does that mean it is illegal to base the daemon models with square bases?
Finally, the daemon's square bases are 25mm wide and the round bases are 25mm wide. They are the same. Please stop spreading that they are 20mm square bases.

1. Use the round bases for everything bar;
- Bloodcrushers
- Beasts of Nurgle
- Hounds
- Seekers
- Greaters & Princes
- *Drones
- *Screamers
- *Soul Grinder
- *all Chariots
These models have round bases that really don't match-up at all to their Fantasy counter-parts. (ie: the 60mm circular base of 'Crushers/Drones in no way match-up with the square Monstrous Cav base)
For these 'special cases', use the proper Fantasy base, then bitz order a bunch of the 60mm Titan bases and build a little 'slot' for the Fantasy base to sit in.
For Screamers & Drones, they're as easy as just using the extra flying stands + magnets to swap them between their proper bases.
Soul Grinders can again be used un-based in 40k, and then have it's relevant Fantasy base built-up with some 'slot' for it to sit in securely.
Chariots again should follow the main example of putting them on their relevant Fantasy base and then building a 40k version using the large oval base as a template.
For all the circular based stuff, the best way to properly rank them up in Fantasy is to simply use the GW modular movement tray kit as it has the relevant measurements already marked out. Just spray the baseplate black and then white-line all the groves so they stick out.

No issues unless it leads to shenanigans. Who cares if your 1mm closer or further or whatever than usual?

The only people you would need to worry about are the WAAC people who would try to use it to gain some sort of advantage over you or cry because they think you have their mindset and are trying to pull something over on them.
Of course, the first reply has the best idea for you in making movement trays with round holes.

No, they don't.
While I have no idea if the current WHFB rules still have the base requirements from an edition or two ago, there is no rule in 40K that requires you to use round bases.

Does anyone remember the first 'Ard Boyz tournament here in the U.S., where the overall winner was catching crap in some quarters for basing his Bloodcrushers on smaller bases than they normally come with?

No, but I don't doubt it.
Lol, I'm hereby claiming that the basing rules from Rogue Trader are "grandfathered in", where Games Workshop said you can even use hex-bases.

We are from the same generation, I think. I like your point about Epic, because that is exactly what we have going on in our games with mixes of square and rectangular bases.
