When you start playing Ogres, I bet you'll love them. Hell, even the fluff is awesome. And with the amount of things you have to buy to make a 2400pts army, you will be done collecting them before you even start.
How do ogres stack up against orcs and goblins? I watched a battle report where the ogre player got crushed and did little to no damage to a group of wild orcs.
No army is by itself a hard counter to another army. Strategies are hard counters.
It's hard to see how savage orcs alone are going to not take any damage from ogres as they're basically little and big versions of each other. If O&G went mass war machines they would have a better chance.
Hell, even the fluff is awesome. And with the amount of things you have to buy to make a 2400pts army, you will be done collecting them before you even start.
