I bought them both, cut them out, never used either. This is one discontinued product I can't really blame GW for doing.

When I was hugely into GW games, I never fully understood the point of these things. I completely understand letting them go, as they really did seem to be the most wasteful thing GW made. Should have kicked this and kept mordheim or bloodbowl or something like that.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Due to work, I can usually only ship any sales or trades out on Saturday morning. Please trade/purchase with this in mind.

I don't know, they seem like a decent enough concept, its the execution that stunk.

FIgure they had the old cardboard Mighty Empires, with what, 100 or so tiles, castles, towns, armies, flags, etc. And pretty comprehensive rules to either play just with the board, or convert it to the tabletop.

The General's compendium had map-based campaign rules that were pretty robust (and two map-based campaigns available).

With these kits, they give you 48 tiles, and 6 pages of half-baked rules that really needed work by the players to make them fun and interesting.

Had they done fully interlocking tiles, plains/mountains/hills/rivers on one side, and some sci-fi on the other side, along with fuller rules or even a generic (and extensive) update of the General's Compendium (and another for sci-fi), they'd have had something. As it is, they're half a product each.

I'm still tempted to pick them up cheap somewhere just to have them. I have two sets of the original mighty empires but wouldn't mind more robust tiles.

I think General's compendium was the book I was thinking of! thanks for mentioning it, trying to remember it's name was driving me crazy. Alot more fun in-depth rules then the half-baked rules any club could quickly come up with you got with that set.

The tiles were nice, but to me it felt like i was getting the pieces and told to make up my own rules.

I'm going to pick a set up of both to have. I might never paint or play with them but they are just neat looking and tickle my visual side for a campaign.

I've meant to get them for years and just never grabbed them. Now seems a good time

Just tried to order a Mighty Empires from GW. US and UK are out of stoc and the customer service said it would be at least mid Febuary of this year before they are expected to receive the.copies already ordered.
