I am so looking into getting Homeworlds 2 now....
Melissia wrote:The X Universe series can be played like that too, though you have to personally pilot one of them and the AI can be stupid at times (its intelligence limited by the processing speed of your computer). X: Rebirth and X3: Albion Prelude are the most recent of the series. It is NOT an RTS except in the strictest sense.
On a side note, do NOT get X:Rebirth, it is the most GIANT waste of money i have ever spent £40 on.....i am still holding a grudge on the friend who talked me into paying full price for it...X:Albion Prelude and X: Terran Conflict are both amazeballs and you should look into getting them....

The X games do have one of the steepest learning curves known to man, however. They're not something you can just instantly jump into on install.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

Agreed, i was greatly helped by the aforementioned friend giving me tips...but once you get into them they are great. Until you have to complex, i lost interest at that point for a while (bear in mind that still 70 odd hours of gameplay before you need to think about that stuff, although you can do it much earlier) and pick the Terran Defender start point in TC if you get it, its the only way of unlocking the Terran storyline (the others you can pick up elsewhere) And dont attack the Yaki, seriously, cancel any mission that tells you to attack them, and never attack their ships that are floating around, you NEED positive rep with them later on!

I looked up the trailer for X3: Terran conflict. I was loving it right up until the flapping dragon/helldrake ships showed up... then I started laughing and couldn't stop. Spelljammer lives darn it Anyway, those Caldari lookalike guys with the silver ships are pretty awesome.

Pretty sure you watched the 'Xtended' trailer, which is a community mod. There is no such weird dragon ship in the Vanilla games afaik....and ive never seen half the other ships on that trailer either, so that isnt it im afraid....sorry.

So it was. That's what you get when you go looking for video game trailers with no reference frame of what you're looking at.
