I've had luck selling most of mine. It's usually a matter of where you sell them at and the condition. Advertise them in specific 40k forums. never expect a lot though. Unless it is RT era, your just not gonna get much.
Your likely to get more value in trades than cash i've found.

They started the bidding at $8 and got exactly 0 bids and put them all away. So if you are holding them for any kind of resale vale, don't bother. If you are keeping them cause you like them go for it.

This was the experience at my FLGS gaming auction. They happen twice a year and it seems the last few times at the end of the night there were boxes of books, many of them GW codicies, at the end. They asked the remaining participants to go through them and take out what they wanted to bid on. Most of those items fetched only a 1-3 bucks each.

Rulebooks, however seemed to fetch a few dollars more. Also, stuff from 2nd edition 40k and earlier, and the same era of warhammer books seemed to fetch a few bucks more than most.

Definitely. Trading is the way to go for this kind of stuff that doesn't have a big market value. Especially if you can trade in lots.

I keep all mine, all the way back to Rogue Trader.
Just for nostalgia though. I don't actually use them anymore for anything.

You can always still read the fluff.
And you can still use the old rules to play old edition games.
I don't think selling them will give you much money, but a shot never fired is a shot always missed. If you want to get rid of them, you should try selling them anyways

What? OOP books always have a market!

If you have any of the old Tau, Space Marine, Eldar or Nids books, you could just give them to me...

I like the old codexes just for reading/art.
Why don't you post a list here or in the Swap Shop and see if you can get some trades for figs going.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.
